BOOTHE, Mary Bramlett, 88, of Thaxton, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 1995, in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. She was born July 25, 1906 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Will Bramlett and Mary Schoonover Bramlett; her husband was the late Daniel Boothe. She was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by a son, Dewey Love, Thaxton; a daughter, Doris Brammer, Roanoke; five grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted Friday, May 12, 1995 at 11 a.m. from the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Earl Ragland. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home, Bedford.

CROCKETT, Winifred Moore, (""Winnie""), 77, of Floyd Lane, Pulaski, Va., died Wednesday, May 10, 1995 in the Radford Community Hospital. She was born in Wytheville, Va., on April 28, 1918 and was the daughter of the late Arthur Wilburn Moore and Ollie Isabelle Synan Moore. She was a member of the Anderson Memorial Presbyterian Church, Pulaski and she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Vermillion Crockett. Surviving are one daughter, Leona Crockett Trail, Pulaski; daughter and son-in-law, Ellen C. and Terry Bentley, Blue Ridge, Va.; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Barbara Crockett, Pulaski, James and Peggy Crockett, Morgan City, L.A., Frederick and Ruth Crockett, Christiansburg; one son, Charles R. Crockett, Pulaski; sisters, Juanita Reynolds, Wytheville, Jean Wampler, Glasgow, Va.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Stevens Funeral Chapel, Pulaski. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery, Pulaski. DUNN, Lt. Col. Roy Franklin, (ret.), 89, of Radford, passed away Sunday, May 7, 1995, in Virginia Beach. He was a member of Kiwanis Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Adams Dunn, and a daughter, Betsy Dunn Kellog. He was a graduate of VMI Class of 1931, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was inducted into the VMI Sports Hall of Fame in 1977, having lettered in five sports. Late in life he proudly adopted Alice Pearson Dunn Reed of Virginia Beach; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Friday, May 12, 1995, at 10 a.m. at the Sunrise Burial Park in Radford with the Rev. John Kearfoot Boyd officiating. Members of V.F.W. Post #776 of Radford will conduct graveside rites. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the VMI Memorial Fund Lexington, Va. 24450. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the Seaver-Sanders & Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.

FRANCE, Russell M. 85, of Route 4, Rocky Mount, died Wednesday, May 10, 1995, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn France. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Gale J. and Robert W. Jones, Rocky Mount, Nancy L. Clark, Pensacola, Fla., a special friend, Eddie Ewing, Pensacola, Fla.; one granddaughter, Wendy Jones; four grandsons and two granddaughters-in-law, Jim and Kim Traver, Scott Traver, Doug and Yvette Clark, Jeffrey Clark; two great-grandchildren, Jeremy Traver and Sydney Clark; and one step-sister. FUNK, Sandra Simmons, 56, of Troutville, died Tuesday, May 9, 1995. She is survived by her husband, Robert A. Funk, Troutville; three sons, Marshall Earl Funk, Troutville, Milan A. Funk, England, Melvin Contee Funk, Roanoke; one daughter, Sharon Ione Dillon, Raleigh, N.C.; one brother, David Earl Foster, Roanoke; seven grandchildren. HALL, Jerry Milton, 50, of Chilhowie, died Tuesday morning, May 9, 1995 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He worked for Waddell Transfer for 29 years as a truck driver and shop foreman. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Combs Hall, Chilhowie; two daughters, Mrs. April Lyles, Chilhowie, Joy J. Hall, Chilhowie; four sisters, Brenda Waddell, Atkins, Cathy Hall, Catawba, S.C., Jackie Christian, Chilhowie, Rebecca Hall, Chilhowie; two brothers, Trooper Gary W. Hall, Clintwood, Trooper Steven Hall, Pearisburg; three grandchildren, Rena Lyles, Daniel Lyles, Dessa Lyles; father and mother, Buddy and Janie Hall, Chilhowie. HOSTON, Theodore, 89, of Pembroke, died, Tuesday, May 9, 1995, in Rich Creek, Va. Born in Bluefield, W.Va. he was a son of the late Albert and Amanda Hoston. He is survived by his wife, Retha Chapman Hoston; a son, Ralph Hoston of Pembroke; and a sister, Lois Parks of Bluefield, W.Va. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel at Pembroke with burial in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. LEWIS, Myrtle Vest, 84, of 102 E. Hawthorne St., Covington, died early Wednesday, May 10, 1995, at her residence. She was the widow of James Deward Lewis Sr., who preceded her in death in 1990. Mrs. Lewis was born February 17, 1911 in Rockbridge County a daughter of the late Phillip Vest and Nanny Louise Coffey Vest. She was a member of Covington Baptist Church. Mrs. Lewis had previously been employed with Westvaco for 16 years and was the former owner of Lewis Manor Nursing Home. She is survived by three sons, James D. Lewis Jr., Baltimore, Md., Richard C. Lewis Sr., Rock Hill, Charles E. Lewis, Charlotte, N.C.; three daughters, Hilda Dilly Keyser and Phyllis Lewis Koonce, both of Covington, Helen Lewis Steph ens, Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Arlene Hamilton, Buena Vista, Violet Bolkins, Staunton; 21 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. A funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with the Rev. William M. Cash officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at Alleghany Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 until 8:30 at Loving Funeral Home, Covington.

MARSHALL, Jessie Vernell Hughes, 62, of Mt. Holly, N.J., passed away Friday, May 5, 1995. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Marshall; two sons, Clifford Marshall and Donald Marshall; four daughters, Hazel Marshall, Theresa Marshall, Rochelle Price, all of Mt Holly, N.J., and Renee Wood, Pine Bluff, Ark.; two sisters, Carolyn (Henry) Ferrell, Hilda (Elwood) Preston; brother-in-law, Harold White; two stepbrothers, Leroy and William Thompson all of Roanoke; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends. MCDONALD, Joseph A. Sr., 85, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, May 10, 1995, at Friendship Health Care Center. He was a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, Ill. and attended Grace Church. Mr. McDonald was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Surviving are his wife, Antha C. McDonald; five children, Joseph A. McDonald Jr., Wilmington, Del., Esther R. Nelson, Richmond, Elizabeth A. Mennuti, Redwood, John N. McDonald, Ridgewood, N.J., and E. Lois Hansen, Burke; a half brother, Angus McDonald, Oregon; also 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Kathryn Epton, Spokane, Wash.; brother, Williard McDonald, Montana; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Oak ey's North Chapel at 1 p.m. Friday, May 12, 1995, with the Rev. Charles Evans, and Rabbi Jerome Fox officiating. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. SAVILLE, B. Myrtle, (``Mamaw""), 96, of Troutville, whom was deeply loved, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday afternoon, May 9, 1995. She was a longtime member of 50 years in the Troutville Baptist Church and was the widow of Hubert James Saville. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Buddy L. and Jean A. Saville, Troutville; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Ed Martin, Roanoke; grandchildren, Linda Roberts and husband Gary, Sherry Graham and husband Gary, Brenda Roop and husband Jeffrey; great-grandchildren, Brian and Heath Roberts, Amber, Kristin and Tyler Graham. Funeral services will be conducted Friday May 12, 1995, 11 a.m. at the Troutville Baptist Church with Dr. E. Ray Frazier officiating. Interment will follow in the Fair View Cemetery, Roanoke. SEXTON, Mattie Duncan, 87, of Salem, died Tuesday, May 9, 1995. She was the widow of Eugene M. Sexton. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Eugene G. and Peggy S. WASHBURN, G. Patrick, of Roanoke County, died Wednesday, May 10, 1995. Mr. Washburn was a 1949 Graduate of Roanoke College and a Naval Air Veteran of World War II and was retired from the Naval Air Reserve after 20 years of service. Mr. Washburn was the Regional Director of the Northeast Territory for Mason-Dixon Trucking Lines, located in New York City and was the past president of the New York Motor Carrier Counsel, he was also a member of the Hidden Valley Country Club and a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church. Surviving are his wife, Jean Poff Washburn; two brothers, John C. Washburn Jr., Roanoke, Carey B. Washburn, Kinston, N.C.; two sisters, Paulina W. Prillaman, Peggy W. McGhee, both of Penhook; also several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, May 12, 1995, at St. Johns Episcopal Church with the Rev. Thomas P. O'Dell officiating. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Lung Association or to St. Johns Episcopal Church. Arrangements by Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.

WEDDINGTON, Savannah Joyce, 70, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, May 8, 1995. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Charles Jr., and Barbara Anderson, Roanoke; two step-sons, Stephen and Timothy Weddington, both of Maryland; two step-daughters, Dr. Gleniece Nelson, and Vickie Hathaway, both of Maryland; two grandchildren; devoted cousins, Juanita Jones, Alexander Barksdale, and Lovie Cook, all of Roanoke. WEEKS, Opal Gaye, 79, of Bassett, died Tuesday, May 9, 1995, at her home on Wall Street. Born in Montgomery County, February 7, 1916, she was a daughter of the late James Alvis Bishop and Mamie Reed Bishop. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judy W. Scott. Surviving are her husband, Druss Eddie Weeks of the home; three daughters, Brenda W. Flythe of Martinsville, Shelby W. Hall and Joyce W. Shortt, both of Floyd; a son, Tony Edward Weeks of Bassett; two sisters, Ruby Caldwell of Roanoke, Helen Roop of Riner; a brother, James Bishop of Christiansburg; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. She was a member of Bassett Church of the Brethren where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Doug Jones and the Rev. Mike Varner officiating.
