TEEN-AGER CHARGED IN WOMAN'S DEATH

One week after a 26-year-old woman was shot to death, the Henry County Sheriff's Office has charged a teen-age boy with first-degree murder.

The 17-year-old, whose name was not released because he is a juvenile, also was charged with shooting at an occupied motor vehicle.

That charge also was issued to two other boys, ages 17 and 16, according to Sheriff H.F. Cassell.

The teens are charged in connection with the slaying of Kristin Priscilla Anderson.

Anderson and her boyfriend were driving home from a pool hall on the night of May 5 when she asked him to drive through the Sandy Level area, Cassell said.

Just a mile or so from where she grew up, Anderson told her boyfriend to stop the car.

She got out of the car, walked behind it and began talking with a group of boys, Cassell said. As Anderson walked back toward the car, several shots were fired.

Her boyfriend managed to pull Anderson inside the car. Cassell said more shots were fired as they drove away.

The boyfriend, whose name was not released, drove Anderson to Morehead Hospital in Eden, N.C., where Anderson was pronounced dead.

Cassell said Anderson was killed by a 9 mm automatic weapon. Bullets from two other types of guns - .32-caliber and .38-caliber revolvers - were found in the car.

This week, as officers were gathering evidence, two of the boys left for North Carolina.

The boys, who were staying with relatives at Fort Bragg, were picked up by Army police Thursday, Cassell said, and were on their way back to Virginia on Friday night.

The third boy was turned in by a family member Friday afternoon, Cassell said.
