SOCCER

BRADY WARR, Salem

Warr scored three goals, one unassisted, as Salem beat Rockbridge County 5-0 in a Blue Ridge District match.

MARY JENNINGS, North Cross

Jennings scored two goals and assisted on two others in the Raiders' 10-1 victory over Magna Vista.

MICHAEL BERRY, William Byrd

Berry scored the first three goals as Byrd beat Rockbridge County 4-1 to wrap up the Blue Ridge District regular-season title. A day later, he had three goals in a 6-2 romp over Northside.

ANN STELZEL, KRISTA ENGL, Roanoke Catholic

Stelzel, a freshman, scored four goals and had one assist in a 7-0 victory over Stuart Hall. Engl had 18 saves in a scoreless tie with North Cross.

SHANE DUDDY, Roanoke Catholic

Duddy scored all five goals in a 5-1 victory over Miller School. He added three more in an 11-0 triumph over Magna Vista.

AYISHA WHITENACK, Patrick Henry

Whitenack, a defender, had three goals and two assists in two games. For the season, Whitenack has 13 goals and six assists.

BASEBALL

ROBEY CALDWELL, Cave Spring

Caldwell beat both Roanoke Valley District leaders with a six-hitter in a 7-1 victory over Pulaski County and a five-hitter in a 10-2 romp past first-place Franklin County. He struck out 25 batters in the two games.

TOMMY HUFFMAN, Northside

Huffman shut out Rockbridge County 2-0 on a two-hitter. In his first meeting with the Wildcats, he was the losing pitcher in a 21-0 drubbing by Rockbridge County.

SETH MOORE, Salem

In his first varsity pitching start, Moore struck out five and pitched a no-hitter as the Spartans beat Group AAA Patrick Henry 10-0.

BRIAN ALLEY, Fieldale-Collinsville

Alley pitched a four-hitter and struck out six for his sixth victory in seven decisions in a 10-0 win over Tunstall. He also hit his sixth homer.

JOHNNY CASH, Liberty

Cash hit a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh to give the Minutemen a 9-5 victory over Bedford County rival Jefferson Forest in a key Seminole District game. He knocked in five runs for the game.

ED MACHADO, North Cross

Ed pitched a no-hitter and incrased his hitting streak to 13 games with a double and two RBI in a 10-0 victory over Roanoke Valley Christian School.

DALE SADLER, Shawsville

Sadler paced a 12-0 romp over Auburn and a 13-7 victory over Craig County as he went 6-for-7 with three homers and nine RBI.

TRACK PAT LENNON, Bath County

In a tri-meet against Covington, Pat jumped 6 feet, 3 inches, his personal best and one of the top performances in Timesland this spring.

ANDRA BEASLEY, Christiansburg

Beasley paced the the Blue Demons to the New River District track crown by winning the long and triple jumps, the shot, and the 100- and 200-meter dashes. He also ran a leg on the winning 400-meter relay team.

SOFTBALL

JOAN PATTERSON, AIMEE BIRD, Lord Botetourt

These two led the Cavaliers past Northside 12-1. Patterson pitched a three-hitter, striking out seven and walking only one. Bird went 3-for-4 with three doubles and four RBI as she improved her batting average to .545.

LEIGH-ANN PURSIFULL, Floyd County

The Buffaloes knocked off 1994 Group A state runner-up James River 7-5 as Pursifull drilled two hits in two at-bats, coaxed two walks and stole two bases. It was a big victory for Floyd County, which never has been able to compete with James River and Glenvar, the Pioneer District's top teams.

ELAINE RONQUILLO, Roanoke Catholic

Elaine went 3-for-3 with a two-run homer in a 4-3 victory over Westover Christian.

LEIGH CARTER, AMANDA OLIVER, Northside

In three games, they both collected seven hits in 11 at-bats (.636).
