BRENT, Randolph Stith II, 72, of Hampton and formerly of Bedford, died Friday, May 12, 1995. He was born in Stamford, Conn. on November 28, 1922, a son of the late Henry Mason Brent and Rose O'Hara Brent. He was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor McCauley Brent. He was a graduate of Episcopal High in Alexandria and received his undergraduate and graduated degrees from the University of Virginia. An Air Force veteran, he served in World War II. He started his career at CBS Television in New York, he then served as General Manager of WHRO Television in Norfolk and before retiring he served as the Director of the Chamber of Commerce in Bedford. He is survived by one daughter, Eleanor Kendall Brent, Virgin ia Beach; one son, Randolph Stith Brent III, Powells Point, N.C.; three sisters, Frances O'Hara Brent, Bedford, Laura M. Bristow, Lynchburg, Mrs. Carl W. Beckman, Bedford. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, May 15, 1995 in Greenwood Cemetery with the the Rev. James A. Creasy officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Patrick Henry Boys and Girls Home, Brookneal. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford.
DAVIS, James S., (``Pistol''), 67, of Bedford County, died Thursday, May 11, 1995, at his home. He was a member of Summerdean Church of the Brethren. He was a Marine vet eran of the Korean Conflict, a former Roanoke City Fireman, a member of the Masonic Lodge and a lover of horses. He is survived by his wife, Rachael R. Davis; three children, Sandra D. Wright, Roanoke County, James Sandy Davis Jr., Salem, Bonnie Ilima Robertson, Salem; two stepchildren, Pam Moyer, Harry Brewbaker both of Roanoke; five grandchildren, Tammy, Danny, Jason, Ariel and Trey; four stepgranddaughters; mother-in-law, Mrs. Claudine Rader. EPPERLY, James Edward, 62, of Salem, died Friday, May 12, 1995, in a Roanoke hospital. Mr. Epperly was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. In 1967 he went to work for the Salem Civic Center in the Maintenance Department and had retired this year due to illness. Survivors include his wife, Rosella Foutz Epperly; a daughter, Donna Coffman; sons David Epperly, Timmie Ren Epperly and Dennis Ren Epperly; three grandchildren, Chelsea, Zachary, Austin; brothers, Calvin Lee Epperly, Lennie Epperly and Frank Wiley Epperly. Funeral services will be held Monday 11 a.m. at the John M. Oakey and Son Chapel in Salem with the Rev. John Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Sherwood Memorial Park. FARRELLY, Charles B., (``Nardie""), 57, of Roanoke, died Saturday, May 13, 1995. He was a graduate of Notre Dame, served as President of the Raleigh Court Lion's Club, and served on the Board of Directors and as President of the Gradin Road Merchant's Association. He was the former president of Virginia Galleries and was president and owner of Charles Farrelly and Associates at the time of his death. Surviving are his wife, Joycelyn Lee (Fudgie) Farrelly; children and their families, Michael Andrew Farrelly, Roanoke, Victoria J. and Bo Bailey and child, Mareta Anne Bailey, Roanoke, Katherine Carpentieri and her daughter, Jamie, Roanoke, Lt. James P. Farrelly, Camp LeJune, Charles B. Jr. and Tricia Farrelly and twin sons, Jared and Luke, Charleston, S.C.; mother, Margaret Fagan Farrelly, Roanoke; mother-in-law, Mareta Lee, Roanoke. GINGER, Catherine Marie, 80, of Natural Bridge Station, died Friday, May 12, 1995, at her home. Born in Buena Vista on July 25, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Rush Issac and Catherine Mary Tolley Austin. She was a member of Beth Horon United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, David Ralph Ginger. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Lawana G. and Freddie Stinnett, Buena Vista, Tana Sue and Mal Huddleston, Wilmington, N.C.; four grandchildren, Renee S. Moore, Dobson, N.C., David F. Stinnett, Buena Vista, M. Vincent Huddleston and Shane A. Huddleston, both of Wilmington, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Whitney Blackwell and McKenzie Moore, Dobson, N.C.; eight devoted sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and several special devoted friends. GRESHAM, Edgar Russell Jr., 83, of Salem, passed away Thursday, May 11, 1995. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruth Goodwin Gresham of Salem; daughter and son-in-law, Bettye G. and Robert R. HURST, Woodrow Wilson, 82, of The Randolph House, Pulaski, died early Saturday morning, May 13, 1995, in the Pulaski Community Hospital. He was born in Sylvatus, Va. on December 25, 1912, and was the son of the late Fugate Clark Hurst and Rosa Emily Quesenberry Hurst. He was a retired employee of R.A.A.P., a member of the Dora Highway Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Wood Hurst. Surviving are three sisters, Louise H. O'Dell, Dublin, Alma H. Holland, Dublin, Faye H. Slusher, Dublin; one brother, Harless G. Hurst, Hillsville; several nieces and nephews. JONES, William Watson Sr., (``Doc""), 71, of Roanoke, died Friday, May 12, 1995. He was a retired carman with Norfolk & Western Railway and was a member of Melrose Baptist Church. Mr. Jones was a World War II Veteran of the US Army Air Corp. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and was active in the Roanoke Valley CB Radio Association known as ``Lamplighter"". KASZAR, Stephen Joseph, (``Steve""), 73, of Roanoke, died Saturday, May 13, 1995. He was a retired Master Gunnery Sargeant, U.S. Marines, World War II, Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He was a member of the D.A.V., V.F.W. and F .R.A. He was a member of Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church. TICE, E. Jackson Jr., 78, of Richmond, died May 13, 1995. He is survived by his wife, Margarata H. Tice; first cousins, Andrew Tice, Marietta, Ga., and Eva Harris, Richmond. Mr. Tice graduated and received his B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering from Virginia Military Institute in 1939 and afterwards was employed with Norfolk and Western Railroad as an engineer. After serving in the U.S. Army during W.W. II, Mr. Tice was employed as an insurance representative with the Equitable Life Insurance Company and then in 1961, he became the Alumni Secretary for V.M.I. where he retired in 1973 as Alumni Executive Secretary. In 1983, Mr. Tice retired from the State Corporate Commission. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Road, Richmond, Va. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the V.M.I. Alumni Association.

Mr. Wright was born at Harrisonburg on September 18, 1910, a son of the late Chester Wallace and Nettie Louvina Keffer Wright. He was employed by R.A.A.P. from 1942 - 45 and from 1949 - until his retirement in 1972. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosetta Trimble Wright. Survivors include five children, Fred Carlyle Wright, Salem, Helen Lucille Wright Riddles, Independence, Kan., James Montgomery Wright Sr., Knoxville, Tenn., Bruce Ryan Wright, Los Angeles, Calif., and Iris Rosalie Wright Fehr, Dublin; one sister, Winnie Gay Creasy, Ellett; one brother, Paul S. Wright, Blacksburg; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
