The Virginia Automobile Dealers Association reported that 707 new cars were registered in the Roanoke Valley during April, down 29.3 percent from 1,000 in April a year ago. The most-recent number was up 3 percent from 686 in March.
For the year to date, dealers sold 2,480 new cars compared to 3,019 in the first four months of 1994, a decline of 17.8 percent.
Of the new cars in April, 356 were registered in Roanoke City, 240 in Roanoke County and 111 in Salem.
