CHRISTIANSBURG - Clothing, household items and furniture can be donated to the Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program Clothing Shop. All donations are tax deductible and can be brought to the MCEAP shop at 740 Roanoke St., next to Hubbards Appliance Store.
Pick-ups will be made for large donations or large items.
MCEAP, a United Way agency, provides food, clothing and furniture to needy families. Financial assistance with rent and utilities is also available to qualifying families.

Science camp sign-ups extended
DUBLIN - Registration deadline for science camp at New River Community College has been extended until Friday, May 19.
Science in Motion summer camp, sponsored by NRCC and the Governor's School, has already filled three classes to capacity. The camp is held for incoming fifth-, sixth- and seventh-graders from June 12 through June 16 at the Southwest Virginia Governor's School.
Registration for three classes have been extended. Geometric design provides an introduction to geometry using hands-on activities such as drawing, tracing and paper folding. Geometric shapes, properties of geometric shapes and measurements will also be covered.
Geology consists of a series of studies on the geological events and substances that have shaped the landscape of Southwest Virginia. Students will work with rocks, minerals, models and maps.
Physical science students will explore electric charges, sound and light waves, Newton's law of motion along with hands-on computer activities.
