FOR THE RECORD

A story Wednesday about the dismissal of a lawsuit filed by a United Parcel Service driver contained incorrect information. Carl Richardson was fired in March 1994, but returned to work as a driver for UPS in April 1994.

Ironworkers Local Union 697 of Roanoke was incorrectly identified in a story in Wednesday's Extra section about the Green Bank telescope.

A story Tuesday about the New River contained two errors. The explosion that killed 12 Montgomery County coal miners occurred in 1946, and Angels Rest outcropping is on Pearis Mountain.

Clarification

The "Green Scene" column in Monday's Extra section reported that some proceeds from the sale of Nabisco's new endangered-species boxes of Barnum's Animals cookies at Kroger and Food Lion stores would go toward building a snow leopard exhibit at Mill Mountain Zoo. Proceeds from purchases of the regular Barnum's Animals cookies also will go to the zoo.
