According to Maj. J.L. Viar, no one had been arrested in the shooting of Ralph Fuller as of Wednesday night.
Fuller told police the shooting began with an argument between his girlfriend and another woman outside the home at 608 Naho St. N.W. Fuller gave that address to police as his home, but the housing authority said Fuller's name was not on the lease.
When he went outside to break up the fight, Fuller said, the other woman left to get her brother.
When the brother returned, the two men began to wrestle. The man pulled a gun and Fuller was shot in the chest.
Roanoke Memorial Hospital would not release Fuller's condition Wednesday night.
About three hours after Fuller was shot, a woman pointed out Antoine Stokes to another man, saying Stokes had shot Fuller.
Stokes told police that when the man confronted him, he told the man he knew nothing about it. The man then pulled a large-caliber handgun and shot Stokes in the right elbow.
Stokes was taken to Roanoke Memorial, where he was treated and released.
Viar said Stokes was not a suspect in the Fuller shooting.
