GATEWOOD PARK PASSES TRASH INSPECTION

Members of Pulaski's Public Operations Committee made an inspection of Gatewood Park and Reservoir on Thursday following reports of litter and access problems.

Gatewood passed with flying colors.

"I liked what I saw," said committee Chairwoman Alma Holston. "I think the place is in very good shape."

Not only was there no noticeable debris in the main visitor area, she said, but the road leading to it from the town was in better shape than she had anticipated from what people had said about it to Town Council.

While debris proved not to be a problem at Gatewood, it is a problem on some town roads. Worn-out tires have proved to be a particular problem, with people tossing them down ravines instead of paying disposal costs for them.

Natural debris also can be seen along Mount Olivet Road on the approach to Gatewood, with branches and fallen trees still visible from the ice storm of two winters ago.
