GIRL, 17, REPORTS SEXUAL ASSAULT

A 17-year-old girl told police she was on her way home from work when a man pursued her and sexually assaulted her late Monday.

Police said the teen-ager told them she was crossing a field near Hershberger Road Northwest about 10:15 p.m. when a man asked her for a cigarette. She gave the man one and walked away. He caught up with her, threw her to the ground and forced her to commit sodomy. She escaped, called a cab and went to Community Hospital.

The girl suffered cuts and bruises to her face. She described her attacker as a black man in his 30s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, 160 pounds, with a scar on the side of his right eye.
