CORHAN, Hortense A., of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, May 21, 1995. She was a member of Saint Andrews Catholic Church and was retired from the Personnel Department, City of Roanoke. Surviving are three sisters, Mary, Lorine, and Pauline; three brothers, Joseph, Michel, and George. Funeral mass will be conducted at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday from Saint Andrews Catholic Church with Father Peter Tran officiating. Interment will follow in Saint Andrews Diocesan Cemetery. A prayer service will take place at 7 p.m. Monday from Oakey's Roanoke Chapel. CROSON, Thomas L., 82, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, May 20, 1995. Survivors include his wife, Georgia B. Croson; two daughters, Yvonne C. CRUMP, Frank J. Sr., 77, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, May 19, 1995. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 2 p.m. at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church, with the Rev. U. N. Broady officiating. DEWEESE, Daniel Wolford, 62, of Narrows, died Sunday morning, May 21, 1995 in a Shawsville, Va. nursing home. A life-long resident of Giles County, he was born February 10, 1933 and was the son of the late Daniel French and Cherry Mae Fletcher Deweese. He was a faithful member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Narrows. Daniel was known as the ``Apple Man"". He could be seen pulling his little red wagon along the highway in Giles County and surrounding areas, going from town to town selling his apples door to door for $1.00 a bag. He is survived by his wife, Vernie Fleeman Deweese, Narrows; brothers, Marvin R. Deweese, Draper, F. Everett Deweese, Charlotte, N.C., Charles E. Deweese, Roanoke; sisters, Mary Colgin, Sandston, Cora Crockett, Pearisburg, Ida Kessinger, Pulaski, Lena Stone, Purcellville, Barbara Jones, Clayton, N.C., Margaret Henson, Dumfries. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. at the Church of God of Prophecy in Narrows, Va., with the Rev. James Pentecost officiating. FRENCH, Harry Bentley, 79, of Roanoke, and formerly of Superior, W.Va. died Sunday, May 21, 1995 at the V. A. Hospital. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was retired from the Cannelton Coal Company. GORSUCH, Tom W. Sr., 82, of Hartsville, S.C., died suddenly Saturday morning, May 20, 1995 in a local hospital following a short illness. Mr.Gorsuch was born in Wauseon, Ohio, a son of the late Frank D. and Julia Secrist Gorsuch. He attended the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He was retired from the Hartsville Country Club, where he was Club Manager for several years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Haight Gorsuch, Hartsville, S.C.; a son, Dr. Tom W.Gorsuch Jr., Houston,Texas; a daughter, Miss Constance A. GUTHRIE, Howard Montague, 76, of Salem, passed away Sunday, May 21, 1995 , a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He was a member and deacon of First Church of the Brethren. He served in the U.S. Air Force during WW II as a radio operator, and was retired from General Electric. Survivors include his beloved wife and soul mate of 56 years, Helen Virginia Gearheart Guthrie, of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Michael Poe, Judy and Vernon Ellison, all of Salem, Joyce and Stan Pearson, of Clearmont, N.C.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Howard L. (Jeanne) Guthrie, Newark, Del., Rodney W. (Vicki Lynn) Guthrie; two granddaughters, Kristi Michelle Underwood, of Roanoke, Robin and husband, Eric Vanoy, Newark, Del.; nine grandsons and spouses, Lee and Carmen Harris, Patrick S. KEEN, Laura Ruth Corvin Bishop, 71, of Wytheville, died Saturday, May 20, 1995 in the Princeton Community Hospital. She was preceded in death by a son, Garnett Eugene Bishop. Sue is survived by two sons, Robert Bishop, Wytheville, William C. Bishop, Staunton; two sisters, Sarah Moore and Violet Bryant, both of Roanoke; three brothers, Lewis Wilson, Roanoke, Richard Corvin and John Paul Corvin, both of Wytheville; two grandchildren, Chuck and Todd Bishop, both of Staunton. KESSLER, Shirley Dowler, 61, of Roanoke, died Sunday morning, May 21, 1995 at her home. She was a member of Shenandoah Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lila Dowler, formerly of Pittsburg, Pa., and a grandson, Aaron Kessler. Surviving are her husband of 41 years, John C. (Jack) Kessler; three sons and their wives, James A. (Jimmy) and Mary Kessler, Winston-Salem, N.C., John T. and Lois Kessler, Goodview, Jeffrey P. and Telesa Kessler, Roanoke; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Jim Barnes, Roanoke; six grandchildren, John, Meghan, Bradley, Ryan, David and Zachary; two sisters, Louise McElroy and Ruth Blakeslee, both of Pittsburg, Pa. MOORE, Mary Mead, 88, of Roanoke, died in a local nursing home Friday, April 28, 1995. A native of Bedford County, she and her mother moved to Roanoke about 1931. Following her graduation from Randolph-Macon Woman's College, Lynchburg and the University of Virginia, she became a public school teacher, serving at Highland Park School for 24 years. She enjoyed traveling, including two trips around the world. She was a member of Greene Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Thomas Meeker Bible Class and the DMAs, an older adult group. She is survived by several distant cousins. A memorial service will be held at Greene Memorial Chapel 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, 1995, with the Rev. Walter M. Lockett Jr. officiating memorial gifts may be made to the church.

RADFORD, Phyllis Hurt, 71, of 213 Turner Rd., Collinsville, died Sunday, May 21, 1995, at her home. Born in Roanoke, July 7, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Andrew G. Hurt and Mabel Fuller Hurt. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruth H. Spencer, and a brother, Henry Paul Hurt. She was retired from Ladybird Dress Apparel, Roanoke. Surviving are a daughter, Patricia R. Hearld of Ridgeway; a son, Richard D. Radford of Collinsville; two brothers, Andrew G. Hurt Jr., and David Bruce Hurt, both of Roanoke; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild. StCLAIR, Lucille Virginia, 68, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 20, 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred D. (Buck) StClair. Surviving are a son and his wife, Gene and Judy Lane, Roanoke; three daughters and their husbands, Brenda and Dexter Darnell, Rocky Mount, Loretta and Mike Oliver, Sharon and Mike Webb, all of Roanoke; eight grandchildren, Katina and her husband Jeff McDaniel, Greg and his wife, Jill Lane, David and his wife, Loretta Webb, Laura Lane, Richie Oliver, Danny Webb, Chad Darnell and Amanda Oliver; four great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Heather and Brittany McDaniel and Katleynn (Katie) Webb and her little dog, Peanut. THOMPSON, Lala Mitchell, 88, of Christiansburg, died Saturday, May 20, 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, Trigg Thompson and one son, Cedric Thompson. Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn and Nora Lee Thompson of Riner, Major and Gail Thompson of Farmville, Russell and Deidre Thompson of Houston, Texas, Joseph and Elva Thompson of Chester; five daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Harden Reed, Erma Jean and Roger Gallimore, Betty and Don Teel all of Christiansburg, Nancy and Hollis Tackitt of Nashville, Tennessee and Marie and Wendell Hensley of Blacksburg; twenty-five granchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Woodie and Myrtle Mitchell of Blacksburg; two sisters, Mattie Mogavera of Christiansburg, and Alma Lester of Riner; one brother-in-law, Houston Lester of Roanoke; also three nieces. Funeral services will he held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Christiansburg Church of Christ with Mr. Carnice Mannon and Mr. Tom Hodge officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
