FORMER TECH ASSISTANT GETS RUSH POSITION

The Roanoke Rush has named former Virginia Tech assistant coach Denie Marie as its coach for the team's inaugural minor-league football season.

Marie was the Hokies' wide receivers coach from 1989-92. He had been an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Kent University since 1992.

The team said it will name its assistant coaches soon.

Tryouts for the team are at 8 a.m. on June 3 and June 10. Registration is at Washington Park. For information, call 951-4329.
