AKERS, Douglas Edwin, (``Buck''), 52, of Riner, died suddenly Monday, May 23, 1995, at his farm. He was a lifelong resident of Montgomery County and a prominent dairy farmer. He was preceded in death by his father, William Hestle Akers. He is survived by his wife, Jean Akers; three daughters and a son-in-law, Sherry Akers, Radford, Julie Akers, of the home, Tammy and Ronald Salmons, Riner; his mother, Dorothy S. Akers, Riner; sisters and brothers-in-law, Annetta and Pete Sowers, Eloise and Buck Minnick, all of Christiansburg, Loretta and Paul Marshall, Radford, Phyllis and Johnny Meredith, Riner; brothers and sister-in-law, Donald (Sonny) Akers, Christiansburg, Philli p and Debbie Akers, Riner; mother-in-law, Versie Altizer, Christiansburg; his favorite pet, Bandit; also numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and many, many good friends. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 26, in the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel, Christiansburg, conducted by Mr. Bobby Sutphin, with burial in Sunset Cemetery. Friends may call anytime after noon on Thursday where the family will receive friends from 7 until 9 Thursday evening. Arrangements are being handled by Richardson-Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg.

ATKINSON, Claudine John, 87, of Blacksburg, died Wednesday, May 24, 1995. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home.

BLANKENSHIP, David Edward, (""Snooks""), 73, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 1995. David was a former employee of United States Steel and was a retired tire builder from Mohawk Rubber Company. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was a member of the Roanoke Moose Lodge #284 and is survived by his wife, Edith Cheek Blankenship; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Norman and Joyce Blankenship, Eugene and Nelva Blankenship, Ralph and Rachel Blankenship, James Blankenship, Willie Blankenship, all of Roanoke, Aubrey Blankenship, Florida, John Blankenship, Richmond; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Draper, Mary and Eddie St. Clair, all of Roanoke, Martha and Jimmy Tingler, Buchanan; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's Vinton Chapel Friday, May 26, 1995, 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Robert W. Lanier officiating. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. FERGUSON, D. L., (``Fergie""), 77, of Roanoke, died suddenly Tuesday, May 23, 1995. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a life long member of Grandin Court Baptist Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Bea, Roanoke; two sons, Marvin Ferguson, Beauford, S.C. and Stephen Ferguson, Dallas, Texas; two daughters, Merle Hardison, Dallas, Texas and Bobi Perry, Pittsburgh, Pa.; seven grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Oakey's South Chapel 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. R obert M. Hamner officiating. The family will receive friends at the home, 1846 Whippletree Circle, S.W. following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

FULLER, Rolf Roscoe, 66, of Prince George, died Wednesday, May 24, 1995, at his residence. He retired from Allied Signal Corp. after 25 years service as a millwright. He served in the US Navy. Survivors include his wife, Emma H. Fuller, Prince George; three daughters, Mary F. Atkins, Mechanicsville, Linda F. Proffitt, Glen Allen, Nancy J. Fuller, Richmond; sister, Elizabeth F. HOLLY, Rufus Ervin, of Inglewood, Calif., passed away Sunday, May 21,1995, in Inglewood, Calif.
