Then there's former baseball infielder Ron Hunt, who often got on first base the hard way. During his nine-year career, he was hit by 243 pitched balls. For seven consecutive seasons Hunt led the league as the man most hit by pitches.
The worst fireworks award goes to George Plimpton's 40-inch Roman candle, which was supposed to break all records as it exploded high over Long Island in 1975. It fizzled, sat still for a moment, then blew a hole in the ground 10 feet deep.
Anthony Bowser's 24th birthday celebration was probably his worst. That day, police arrested him for failing to pay 251 traffic tickets, which totalled $9,825 in fines - more than his car was worth.
