Musical tribute

RADFORD - WVRU 89.9 FM will broadcast "A Tribute to American Musical Theatre" on its weekly Community Speaking program. Radford University music professor George Parish and the university's faculty jazz ensemble will be featured. The program airs Sunday at 6 p.m., Tuesday at 5 p.m., Wednesday at noon and Thursday at 7 p.m.

On Tuesday at 10 p.m., "Ten Years that Rocked the World" will be presented. This celebration of Spin magazine's tenth anniversary issue will include a count down of 10 top artists and a look at the events, people and music of the past 10 years.

"Mahogany Perspective" airs on Saturdays, 3-9 p.m., and includes rap, hip-hop, rhythm and blues and soul music. At 1:30 p.m. Wednesdays, the "With Good Reason" show broadcasts computer-manipulated sound effects with Appalachian folk songs and European chorales to make up the 1994 oratorio "Coal."

Blacksburg EXPO '95

BLACKSBURG - Exhibitors are needed at the Retire Blacksburg EXPO '95 on June 8-11 at Virginia Tech. The purpose of the conference is to present the town as an ideal and quality retirement location and to promote the advantages of living in the Blacksburg area. A variety of seminars, tours, socials, forums and entertainment will be offered throughout the weekend.

Two-day exhibits are planned for June 9, 2 to 6 p.m., and June 10, 9 a.m. to noon. The exhibit area is in the Commonwealth Ballroom at Squires Student Center. Exhibits are open to the public.

Wellness fair

BLACKSBURG - Margaret Beeks Elementary School PTA will have a Community Wellness Fair Saturday, 1 to 4 p.m.

The fair will consist of 12 stations where families and individuals can receive information about various aspects of wellness, health and ecology. In addition, each station will have an activity or a game.

The fair has been organized by Catrina Himberg, a graduate student in the physical/health education department at Virginia Tech. Himberg has received a grant to film and document the fair to present as an example for other schools and groups to follow.
