PEOPLE IN BUSINESS

The Christiansburg-Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce has named Priscilla Fleshman and Larry Maccherone, co-owners of Comprehensive Computer Systems in Christiansburg, as 1995 CMCC Small Business Leaders. The firm is the oldest computer company in the New River Valley, opening 14 years ago. Employing 16 people, Comprehensive Computer Systems provides computer solutions to firms and governments throughout the region, state, nation, and overseas. The company recently expanded into a new 6,000-square-foot facility in the Christiansburg Industrial Park.

The Christiansburg-Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce has selected its new executive committee. Richard G. Ballengee of the county school system is the new president; Gerard W. Higgins of the Blacksburg-Christiansburg-VPI Water Authority, president-elect; Darryl J. Gillespie of Lester and Gillespie, past-president ex-officio; Litz H. VanDyke of First National Bank, finance vice president.

Other officers include Karen G. Hedge of ProMedia Advertising, community development vice president; James C. Stewart of New River Community College Center for Innovative Technology, economic development vice president; Kent E. Bond of Lanier Financial Services, fund-raising vice president; and Truman K. Daniel Jr., Christiansburg Town Council member, membership services vice president.

The 1995-96 board of directors for the Blacksburg Chamber of Commerce is Todd Halwas of Raines Real Estate, president; Patti Cowley of Omni Travel and Tours, president-elect and treasurer; Marla Kemsey of Chantilly Lace, vice president for organizational development; Brian Smith of Edward D. Jones & Co., vice president for economic development; and Jim Johnson, vice president of governmental and community development.

New members of Draper Aden Associates' Environmental Services Team are Colleen McCloskey and Jeanie Flint.

McCloskey, a project engineer, recently received a master's degree in environmental engineering from Virginia Tech. She also has a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the university. She will specialize in underground site remediation.

Flint will be an environmental scientist. She joins Draper Aden after serving as senior analyst for Versar Laboratories. Flint is a graduate of Radford University with a bachelor's degree in chemistry.

Joel S. Williams, certified financial planner and vice president of investments with the Blacksburg office of Dean Witter, has completed a course in advanced charitable gift-giving. The training will allow Williams to help clients plan charitable gifts. Such gifts can provide benefits not only to communities but to the donors, too.

McNeil Real Estate has named Lee Johnson sales manager. Johnson, a long-time employee, has been an associate broker for the last five years and an agent for the last 14.

Marc Siegel, a Blacksburg physician, has been recertified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Recertification is mandatory every 10 years.
