MARYE, SHULER SPEAK AT SHELTER

State Sen. Madison Marye, D-Shawsville, and Del. Jim Shuler, D-Blacksburg, are the main speakers at the New River Valley Community Shelter open house today, 1-3 p.m., at the shelter, 710 Roanoke St.

Shelter board President Jeanne Howard also will speak.

The public is welcome, and refreshments will be served.

Volunteers have been working for the past few weeks to refurbish the shelter, which provides transitional housing for homeless families.

The shelter is opposite Imperial Fashions and next to Kanode Motors on Roanoke Street.
