SHAKEN-BABY INDICTMENT RETURNED

A Bedford County grand jury on Friday indicted a man accused of shaking a 2-month-old girl so hard that her head touched her back.

Kevine Lee Dillon, 22, is to stand trial Aug. 29 on one felony count of child abuse and neglect. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.

A sheriff's deputy testified at a preliminary hearing that Dillon confessed to shaking the baby so she would stop crying.

Dillon is not related to the infant and was minding her for her mother at the time.

The child may have suffered permanent neurological damage, according to Randy Krantz, Bedford County assistant commonwealth's attorney.
