MAN STABBED AFTER FIGHT IN PARKING LOT

A Southwest Roanoke man was stabbed Friday evening after he tried to break up a fight between his wife and another woman.

Theodore R. Young, 23, of Rorer Avenue Southwest was with his wife in a parking lot in the 200 block of Cherry Avenue Northwest when she and another woman began fighting, a Roanoke police news release said. When Young tried to stop the fight, he was stabbed in the chest with a knife by the other woman's father..

The man with the knife fled on foot, the release said.

Young was taken to Community Hospital in a car, but was transferred to Roanoke Memorial Hospital because of the severity of his wound. He still was in surgery late Friday.

Police know the identity of the suspect in the stabbing, the release said, but had not located him Friday night.
