PA. ARTIST WINS FESTIVAL'S TOP PRIZE

A Pennsylvania artist took home the best in show award at the 37th Annual Sidewalk Art Show held Saturday as part of Roanoke's Festival in the Park.

Greg Joliat, Cresco, Penn., took home $1,500 for best in show. His acrylic and pastel painting on paper titled ``On the Edge'' earned the top prize. The award is sponsored by The Cartledge Foundation.

Second prize went to Sallie Rabe, Lynchburg, for ``Noon,'' an oil on canvas. Rabe won $1,000, which was sponsored by Carilion Health Systems.

Ned P. Johnson of Marion took third prize, $550 sponsored by Appalachian Power Company, for ``P 40,'' a woodburning and paint on wood.

Fourth prize was awarded to Susan Bidwell of Huddleston for her photography booth.
