Sharpe led the first 15 laps, but Martin took over the lead on lap 16 after a caution period because of rain. Sharpe, who at 14 is the youngest regular driver at the speedway, finished second. Wayne Roach Jr. was third, with James Hunt (fourth) and Rick Janney (fifth) completing the top five.
