ROANOKE REGIONAL ECONOMIC INDICATORS

Roanoke Valley home sales were down by 13 percent for the first five months of the year. The Roanoke Valley Association of Realtors reported that sales through May totaled 1,611 properties, compared with 1,852 for the corresponding period of 1994.

In May, 343 homes were placed under contract, a drop of 14.5 percent from 401 during the same month last year. But May was up by 14.7 percent from 299 in April.

The median price of houses sold was $91,250.
