RU guitarist's recital on TV

RADFORD - The June edition of the cable television program "Community Speaking" offers a Radford University faculty recital featuring classical guitarist Robert Trent.

"Community Speaking" airs Sundays, 6 p.m.; Tuesdays, 5 p.m.; Wednesdays, noon; and Thursdays, 7 p.m., on American Cable Entertainment channel 9 in Radford, Fairlawn and Christiansburg.

Festival plans car show

CHRISTIANSBURG - Sponsors of the Wilderness Trail Festival are looking for restored, antique or specialty cars for a nonjudged show during the September event.

The entry fee for the antique car show is $7 before Sept. 11 and $10 after.

All entrants will receive an engraved wooden plaque.

The festival, set for Sept. 16, will feature vendors, music, food, games and other activities.

COPE to meet in Newport

NEWPORT - Citizens Organized to Protect the Environment will meet June 14, at 7:30 p.m. The group will update and inform citizens from local communities about the 765 volt power line and other environmental issues.

The meeting will be at the Newport Recreation Center, Route 42.
