SPANGLER, Vera Martin, 96, of Floyd, passed away Monday, June 5, 1995 in a Roanoke hospital. She was a retired seamstress with Donkenny. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harmon Spangler. She is survived by four sons, Maxine L. Spangler, Salem, Joseph G. Spangler, Weens, Va., William Martin Spangler and Vernon Ray Spangler, both of Floyd; one sister, Virgie Sumpter, Roanoke; one sister-in-law, Betty Martin, Greenville, S.C.; twelve grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 1995, at Gardner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Hebron Quesenberry officiating. Interment will follow in Beaver Creek Cemetery. Friends may call after 12 noon Wednesday at Gardner Funeral Home, where the family will be from 7 to 9 p.m.

BRABSON, William Evan, Sr., 77, of Martinsville, died Tuesday, June 6, 1995. at Memorial Hospital, Martinsville. He was born on July 31, 1917 in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania and was a native of Boones Mill. He was the son of the late William Griffith Brabson and Annie Brown Brabson. Mr. Brabson was a U. S. Navy Veteran serving during World War II. He was of the Methodist faith. He was retired from E. I. DuPont Corporation, Martinsivlle Plant after 42 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Rachul Montgomery Brabson, a native of Boones Mill; sons, William Evan Brabson, Jr., Middletown, Va., Robert Ulrich Brabson, Wilmington, Delaware; brother, James Andrew Brabson, Wilmington, Delaware; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m. at the graveside. I nterment will be Mountain View Memorial Park, Franklin County. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the McKee Funeral Home, Martinsville and other times at the home. BUSH, Logan Palmer, Jr., (``Junior""), 73, of Marion, died Tuesday, June 6, 1995, in Twin County Hospital in Galax. Mr. Bush was co-owner and operator of Bush's Market in Marion for 42 years, and a veteran of WWII. He is survived by his wife, Lillian S. Bush; daughters and sons-in-law, Janie Bush Blevins, Newport News, Deva Ann and Jack O'Connor, Cincinnati, Ohio, Susan and Barney Cox, Independence; one son and daughter-in-law, Allen D. and Tracey Bush, Marion; two sisters, Juanita Childress, Temple, Texas, and Ruby Grigsby, Marietta, Ga.; four grandchildren: two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 8, 1995, in Barnett's Marion Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Mike Sage and the Rev. Billy Dean officiating. CARTER, Essie Mae, 90, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, June 6, 1995 at Brandon Oaks. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, John and Ruby Graham; daughters and sons-in-law, Gladys Austin, Helen and George Guill, Margaret and Robert Chumbley, all of Roanoke; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, 12 noon Thursday, June 8, 1995, with the Rev. Branan Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. CLARK, Thomas Key Jr., 76 of Roanoke, died on Tuesday June 6, 1995, while at home surrounded by the peace and love of his family and friends at Good Samaritan Hospice, transitioned from this life. He served in the U. S. Army reserves iWorld War Ii. He was president and Co-Owner of Fox-Hunt-Lloyd Mens Clothing Store in downtown Roanoke. Surviving are his wife, June Lynch Clark; his children, son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Key Clark III and Cindy, Georgia; son, James Lee Clark; daughter and son-in-law, tina Lynn and Randall J. Scott; grandchildren; great -grandchildren; niece; nephews; and other relatives and friends. Friends and family will gather for a memorial service at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, 3 p.m. Thursday with the Dr. William Baker officiating. GOODBAR, James William, 76, of Lexington, Va., died Monday, June 5, 1995, at Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Mr. Goodbar was born April 20, 1919 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Joseph William Goodbar and Sarah Margaret Miller Goodbar. He was a member of the Spring Valley Community Church and the Effinger Fire Department. Mr. Goodbar retired from Burlington, Industry after 331/2 years and then worked for the Floyd S. Kay VOC Tech Center. Surviving are his wife, Lucille Hall Goodbar, Lexington, Va.; daughter, Rebecca JoAnne Goodbar, Lexington; son, Joseph Edward Goodbar, Las Vegas, Nevada; grandson, Trevor Goodbar; nephew, Kenneth Hall, Lexington, who was raised as a son; brother, Hunter Goodbar, Covington; two sisters, Ruby G. Adams, Roanoke, Lydia G. Higgins, Lexington. F uneral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, June 8 1995, at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Paul Carter officiating. HALL, Ruth Abshire, 97, of Richfield Nursing Center, Salem, passed away Tuesday, June 6,1995. She was predeceased by her husband G. Parker Hall, and a son, William Scott Hamilton Sr. Mrs. Hall was a member of Central Church of the Brethren. Surviving are her daughters, Frances Hamilton Stone, Salem, Jeanne Hamilton Lafoon, Farmville; stepson, Lawrence Hall, Vinton; grandchildren, William Scott Hamilton Jr. , Newport News, Carlton H. HUGHS, Nikia Shantell, 5, of Roanoke, died Sunday, June 4, 1995. She is survived by her loving and devoted mother, Cynthia English Hughs, Roanoke; grandmothers, Shirley English and Mrs. Lillian Lewis, both of Roanoke; great-grandparents, Mrs. Marion Price, Roanoke, Mrs. Claudine and Roosevelt English, of Roanoke; a devoted stepfather, Michael Wade, Roanoke; six aunts; two great-aunts; one uncle; great-uncles; and cousins. JEWELL, Willard Avery, 71, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, June 5, 1995, following an illness with cancer. He was a member of the American Legion Post #024. He was retired from the Norfolk & Western Railway Company and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Mr. Jewell is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Susanne Jewell, Reston; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Mark Ryder, Roanoke; four grandchildren, Kelly Clements, Sarah Ryder, Christopher and Lauren Jewell. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday, June 8, at the Lotz Salem Chapel with the Rev. John Ott officiating. Interment will follow in Fair View Burial Park. KLAIBER, Raymond, Sr., 75, of 393 City View Heights in Princeton, West Virginia, died Tuesday, June 6, 1995, in a Princeton hospital. Born in Elkhorn City, KY on April 17, 1920. He was the son of the late Harry and Sophia Johnson Klaiber. He was a retired employee of Semet Solvay/Allied Chemical Corp., Capels Mines. He attended the First United Methodist Church in Princeton where he was president of the Men's Bible Class. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He had been a resident of Princeton since 1972 moving here from Mullens, West Va. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Essie Mae Ratliff Klaiber; one granddaughter; two brothers and three sisters. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Allen Klaiber of Prin ceton; one daughter, Mrs. William (Ellen) Floyd, Winston-Salem, N.C.; two sons, Rev. Raymond Klaiber, Jr., Bluefield and Mark Alan Bailey, Princeton; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday at the George W. Seaver Funeral Home Chapel in Princeton with Rev. Clifford Schell officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. LEWIS, Gladys B., (``Mickey""), 65, of Christiansburg, died Monday, June 5, 1995 in Montgomery Regional Hospital. Born August 15, 1995 in Christiansburg, she was the daughter of the late McKinley and Nora Blackwell. She was employed by Dr. Henry Stewart. She was a member of Shaeffer Memorial Baptist Church and the Christiansburg Ruritan Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Lewis Sr., a brother, Floyd Blackwell, and a sister, Bertha B. Logan. She is survived by two sons, James W. Lewis Jr., Roanoke, James E. Lewis, Blacksburg; beloved friend, Robert McMillian, Christiansburg; niece, Nora Lewis, Christiansburg; loving and close friend, Mrs. Constance Grandy; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. ROSEBERRY, Ada Bess Bond, 88, of the Mountain View Community, died Tuesday, June 6, 1995 at her home. Born February 19, 1907 in Nickelsville, Va. (Scott County). She was the daughter of the late Charles Wesley Bond and Addie Victoria Nickels Bond. She was preceded in death by her husband, Houston Barclay Roseberry and infant son, a great granddaughter, Kelsey Layne Jones, also four brothers and five sisters. She was a retired school teacher having taught in Scott Count y and Pulaski County for a total of 32 years, retiring from Claremont Elementary School, Pulaski. She was an active member of Mountainview United Methodist Church, where she had taught Sunday School for a number of years and was a choir member. She is survived by three daughters, Nancy R. Blair, Addie R. Hubble and Erma R. Young, all of Dublin; one son, Samuel Charles Roseberry, Boones Mill; two sons-in-law, James C. Blair, Thomas B. Hubble; daughter-in-law, Jane R. Roseberry; also surviving are 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; as well as numerous friends. She will be sadly missed and she was an inspiration to all who knew her and she touched many lives. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 2 p.m. from the Mountainview United Methodist Church with the Rev. Barry Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
