VIRGINIA WESTERN COMMUNITY COLLEGE recently recognized several faculty and staff members who are retiring for their service to the college.

Those honored are: Dr. Roy G. Miles, professor of geology, 28 years; Gwendolyn J. Nickerson, associate professor of chemistry, 27; Ruth B. Van Liere, assistant professor of psychology, 26; Dr. Elizabeth W. Payne, professor of office systems technology and program head of the Institute for Business Development, 25; Frances Meador, bookstore operations manager, 25; Juanita Morris, secretary senior in the social sciences division, 23; Jean Powell, instructional assistant in the business division, seven; and housekeeping staff - Leon Hooper, 19 years; Eloise Preston, 16; and Barbara Waller, 16; Doris Banks, 15; and Clarence Toney, 13.

ROBERT POFF of Salem and SIDNEY M. SCOTT of Buchanan were among the employees honored for their outstanding contributions to the Virginia Department of Transportation's highway construction program in 1994.

Both are project engineers who supervise and coordinate the progress of highway construction projects in the 12-county Salem District.

INDUSTRIAL SUPPLY CORP. of Roanoke has been honored as General Motors Supplier of the year 1994 for industrial products. Industrial Supply is part of an international marketing and purchasing cooperative that received the award for excellent quality, service and price.
