VALLEY STUDENTS PLACE IN ODYSSEY FINALS

Fourteen students from Community School and Stonewall Jackson Middle School, competed in the recent Odyssey of the Mind World Finals in Knoxville, Tenn. Each school had a seven-member teams, ages 12 to 14.

Community School team members were Bobby Bursey, Aaron Coulter, Chad Hooper, Rylin Laplant, Whet Moser, Shaena Robison and Sam Spies.

Community placed 13th among 63 teams competing in the Classics Vaudeville category.

The Jackson Middle School team members were Angel Hall, Lisa Hart, Juan Kuilan, Amy Martin, Lindsay Musser, Matt McLeod and Chad Ricker.

Jackson finished 17th among 57 teams in the New Twist competition for youngsters in middle schools.

The competition attracted more than 700 teams and 5,000 students from around the world. In the Odyssey of the Mind competition, teams are scored on long-term and spontaneous problem solving, creativity and stylistic skills in a group presentation.
