GODWIN TO RUN SERVISTAR

BILL GODWIN has joined Servistar/Coast to Coast, based in Denver, as chief operating officer.

Godwin most recently was senior vice president and general merchandise manager of Moore's Lumber and Building Supplies in Roanoke. Before that, he was senior vice president of merchandising of West Building Materials in Atlanta and a buyer for Erb Lumber Co. in Birmingham, Mich.

In his new position, Godwin is responsible for planning, implementing and marketing programs to help independent retailers compete in local markets.

Servistar/Coast to Coast is a member-owned company specializing in hardware, home improvement and automotive products.

FINANCIAL SERVICES

JOEL WILLIAMS has been promoted to first vice president-investments at Dean Witter Discover & Co. Also, H. JEROME SMITH has been promoted to associate vice president-investments.

HOSPITALITY

LEE MILLER has joined Holiday Inn-Tanglewood in Roanoke as food and beverage director. Miller has been in the hospitality business for 15 years and formerly owned Charley's Restaurant in Roanoke. KIM MYERS has been named executive chef at the hotel. Myers brings 19 years of culinary experience to the position, recently having received the March of Dimes People's Choice Award for his "heart healthy" menu. BETTY WRAY has joined the Holiday Inn as financial controller with more than 20 years in the hotel business. Wray was with American Motor Inns/Krisch Hotels until 1992, then was controller for the Thriftee Group and Owens & Co. Realtors.

INSURANCE

EDWARD "BO" BOLINSKY has been named agency field executive for State Farm Insurance Co. in Roanoke as part of a restructuring plan. Under the plan, the insurance company is streamlining three levels of administration into two, and agency managers and agency directors will be replaced by agency field teams. Bolinsky joined State Farm in 1974 as an agent in Culpeper and has been an agency manager in Roanoke since 1989.

MANUFACTURING

RANDY MAHANEY has been appointed plant manager at Virginia House Furniture in Atkins. Mahaney, most recently with Singer Furniture, has previous management experience with Ethan Allen, Hooker and Lea furniture manufacturers. Virginia House primarily makes solid wood upper- and mid-priced casegoods.

MEDICINE

DR. EDWARD P. SNYDER has become certified by the American Board of Orthodontics. Snyder, who is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association, has an orthodontia practice in Martinsville.

MORTGAGE LENDERS

MARY PRICKITT, a mortgage lender in Roanoke for 10 years, has been named vice president and managing partner of the newly opened Roanoke office of Majestic Mortgage Corp., an Illinois-based mortgage banking company. Prickitt will oversee all operations, including originations, processing, closing and appraisal services, at the full-service office. Joining Prickitt is LINDA REPASS as a mortage consultant, WANDA PHILLIPS as operations manager, DAVID GRIFFITH as marketing coordinator and PATRICK CONNER as staff appraiser. Prickitt and Repass formerly were loan officers with Signet Bank in Roanoke. Prickitt also originated mortgage loans for NationsBanc Mortgage for seven years.

MAGGIE NORRIS has been promoted to senior vice president-mortgage servicing at First Union Mortgage Corp. in Roanoke. Norris formerly was vice president-mortgage servicing at the mortgage corporation. She joined First Union in 1984 and prior to that was a certified public accountant for Price Waterhouse.

NONPROFITS

Voice of the Blue Ridge Inc., based in Roanoke, has appointed three new board members for the 1995-96 term: DR. JOE R. BLACKSTOCK, a Roanoke optometrist and partner in the firm of Drs. Blum, Newman, Blackstock & Associates; JOHN T. JOHNSON JR., a sales representative with Fulton Motor Co. and secretary/treasurer of the Lions of Virginia Foundation; and DR. W. CONRAD STONE, a retired Roanoke ophthalmic surgeon. Voice of the Blue Ridge provides services, including Radio Reading Service, for people in Southwestern and central Virginia who cannot read printed material.

JOHN F. PENDARVIS, executive director of Family Service of Roanoke Valley, was elected president of the Family Service Council of Virginia for 1995-96. Family Service of Roanoke Valley is a nonprofit organization that provides professional human services, including counseling, home care and domestic violence treatment. The Family Service Council of Virginia is a statewide association of family service agencies.

ORGANIZATIONS

GWEN HAUSER has been elected president of the Medical Society of Virginia Alliance. Hauser is past corresponding secretary and past Western Region vice president of the alliance. She also is past president of the Roanoke Valley Academy of Medicine Alliance and worked closely with Dr. Doug Pierce to establish the volunteer support system for the Comprehensive Health Investment Partnership, which provides health care for indigent children in the Roanoke Valley.

PERSONNEL

JOANNE BREWER has been promoted to branch operations manager of Adia Personnel Services in Roanoke. Brewer has been with Adia for 17 years. JOHN GARDNER III and CHRISTINA SHACKELFORD have joined the personnel company as service supervisors. Gardner most recently was the employment training coordinator with the League of Older Americans. Shackelford comes to Adia from a temporary-placement company in Richmond.
