BROKER, Thomas O., of Roanoke and Wellfleet, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, died Tuesday, June 6, 1995 after an extended illness with gastrointestinal cancer. He was born March 22, 1915 in Brooklyn, N.Y., the oldest of three sons of Thomas Broker and Elsie Oerter Broker. He graduated from Dumont High School in New Jersey. Mr. Broker attended Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn. and was a member of Chi Psi Fraternity. He majored in history, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Broker attended Cornell University Law School from 1936 through 1939, serving as editor of The Cornell Law Quarterly. Following his clerkship with McCarter and English in Newark, N. J., he joined the Lehigh Valley Railroad in 1941. Mr. Broker entered active service in the United State Army in December, 1942, and served in the Mediterranean Theater. In 1946, he was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain. Mr. Broker returned to the Legal Department of The Lehigh Valley Railroad (1942-48). In 1948, he moved to Cleveland (Fairview Park), Ohio, to become Assi stant General Counsel for the New York, Chicago and St. Louis (Nickel Plate) Railroad. Mr. Broker rose to the position of Vice-President and General Counsel of the Law Department. He worked on the organization of the Illinois Central Railroad and played a central role in the merger of the Nickel Plate with the Norfolk and Western and Wabash Railroads in 1964. Mr. Broker served as General Counsel of the Norfolk and Western until his retirement in 1968. During 1965-66, Mr. Broker served as national President of the Association of Interstate Commerce Commission Law Practitioners. After earning a Master of Arts in Political Science from Tufts University, Boston in 1969, Mr. Broker joined the faculty of Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke, where he taught for the next nine years, retiring in 1977. He achieved the position of Professor and served as a President of the Faculty Forum and on the Faculty Advisory Committee. Mr. Broker leaves son, Thomas Richard and daughter-in-law, Louise Tsi Chow of Birmingham, Alabama, son Stephen Paul and daughter-in-law Linda Katharine Broker of New Haven, Connecticut; and brother, Donald James of Onley, Va. He is predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Evelyn F. Broker (1993), daughter Carolyn Ann (1942) and brother Richard Charles (1939). BROWN, Gwendolyn Vivian Willis, 75, of Salem, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 1995. She fought a good and faithful fight. She was formerly of Washington D.C., where she was a member of the Evangel Temple Church. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Brown Jr.; and her son Lewis Allen Willis. Survivors include her loving brother, Francis Willis, Salem; two grandchildren, Crystal Carnell and Lewis Allen Willis Jr. both of California; eight great-grandchildren; two caring sisters-in-law, Camille Willis, Roanoke, and Mildred Ballard, Cincinnati, Ohio; devoted grand-niece, niece and nephew, Starr Carter, Salem, Inether Carter, Roanoke, and Jerome Willis, Md.; other nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends throughout the Roanoke Valley and the Washington D.C. areas. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Big Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas Penn officiating. Interment w ill be in the church cemetery. BROWN, Robert Lawrence, 85, of Huntington, WV, formerly of Roanoke, died Friday, June 9, 1995 at his residence. He was a retired registered Architect and Engineer. He maintained offices in Roanoke from 1948 to 1959 and in Huntington, W. Va. from 1959 to 1993. He was born February 14, 1910 in Roanoke to the late Preston Johnston Brown and Ella Shelton Brown. He was an honor graduate of VPI in Blacksburg and a retired WWII Colonel in the U. S. Army. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Emeritus member of American Institute of Architects (AIA), life member of National Society of Professional Engineers and WV Society of Professional Engineers, Engineers Club of Huntington, and a life member of the Reserve Officers Association of the United States. Survivors include his wife, Eris Echols Brown, Huntington, W. Va.; and daughter, Cindy Brown Schubert, Schofield, Wisc. Graveside services will be Tuesday 11:30 a.m. at Evergreen Burial Park with the Rev. Deborah Hunley of Christ Episcopal Church officiating. CAMDEN, Mary Belle Young, 51, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, June 9, 1995. Arrangments by Lotz Vinton Chapel.

CRANSTON, Robert B., 36, of Cranberry Township, Pa., passed away suddenly Saturday, June 10, 1995. He was employed as an Electrical Engineer by U. S. Steel in Pittsburgh, Pa. He is survived by his wife, Sara Henley Cranston; three stepchildren, Tabatha Kromer, Roanoke, Amy Henley and Jerry Henley Jr., both of Cranberry Township, Pa.; son-in-law of Mrs. Harry (Dorothy) Mitchell, Roanoke. Funeral services will be held Thursday in Cranberry Township, Pa. Local arrangements by Lotz Vinton Chapel.

DeHART, John L., 72, of Warm Hearth Village, Blacksburg, died Saturday, June 10, 1995 at his home. He was a member and Decon of Northside Presbyterian Church. He was a member of American Legion Post #182 and a veteran of both World War II and the Korean Conflict. Surviving are his wife, Pauline Sutton DeHart; two sons, John L. DeHart Jr., Fairlawn, and Randy DeHart, Draper; three daughters, Priscilla Proco and Jackie Haynes, both of Fairlawn, Barbara Snider, Dublin; a step daughter, Mrs. Curtis Campbell, Wytheville; a step son, Andy D. Hubble, Suffolk; 13 grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Northside Presbyterian Church with Rev. Hugh Springer officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery in Radford. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Northside Presbyterian Church Building Fund. DUNCAN, Helen Dickerson, 86, of Christiansburg, died Saturday, June 10, 1995 in the Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was the widow of Daniel Webster Duncan and is survived by a son, David L. Duncan, Reynoldsburg, Ohio; a daughter, Carol D. Farley, Charles City, Va.; a sister, Nola V. Hill, Willis; and four grandchildren. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Willis, conducted by the Rev. Richard H. Horne. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. FISHER, Edythe B. Lewis, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, June 8, 1995. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sweet Union Baptist Church, with Dr. E. T. Burton officiating. GRAHAM, Elizabeth B., 74, of Christiansburg, died Friday afternoon, June 9, 1995 in the Montgomery Regional Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Everett L. Graham; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert C. and Sandra Graham of IL; a brother and sister-in-law, James H. and Christine Broyles of Roanoke; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild;several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday from St. Paul United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Douglas Kanney and Rev. Charles McHose with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. HARDY, Joanne, 46, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, June 8, 1995. HEDRICK, Kathleen Easley, 86, of Atlanta, Ga., passed away Thursday, June 8, 1995. She was the widow of Winbern A. Hedrick. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. A.C. (Jackie) Manning, Atlanta, Ga.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Isabell Hamner, Newport News. JONES, Edward Lewis, 77, of 1024 Crescent St., Roanoke, died Thursday, June 8, 1995 in a Roanoke hospital following a long illness. Born in Otool, W. Va., he was the son of the late John and Cora Gant Jones. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Walter Daniels, brothers, Henry Clark and Rev. Deroy Jones. Mr. Jones was a retired coal miner and retired from U. S. Steel in Gary, W. Va. He was also a retired employee of the City of Roanoke. Mr. Jones had been a resident of Roanoke for the past 37 years. Survivors include his loving wife, Annie Bell Gravely Jones, of the home; two sons, James (Butch) Jones, Springfield, Mass., Edward Lewis Jones Jr., Nyack, N. Y.; two daughters, Doretha Jones and Linda Frank, both of Nyack, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the G. H. Sinkford Memorial Chapel of the Richardson Fu neral Home, Bluefield, W. Va. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens on Littlesburg Rd. Friends may call Tuesday, one hour prior to service.

KENNEDY, Earl Lee, 84, of Roanoke, died at Community Hospital on Friday, June 9, 1995. He was the son of the late John and Fleeta Kennedy of Mentor, Tenn. He was a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tenn., and was an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenna Bell Kennedy, a sister, Effie Sullenberger, and a stepdaughter, Glenna H. Rambo. Surviving are his sisters, Louise Toole, Mentor, Tenn., and Mrs. Roland (Rena) Brewer, Martinsville, Va.; grandchildren, Kathy Prillaman, Callaway, Va., David Wright, Tennessee, Ben Rambo, Roanoke, and Mary Conner, Salem; seven great-grandchildren. KIRBY, Beulah S., 81, of Huddleston, passed away Saturday, June 10, 1995 in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. She was born December 12, 1913 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late James Hubert Stevens and Ara Stevens Stevens. Her husband was the late Bennie B. Kirby. She was a retired employee of Rubatex. She is survived by a sister, Janie S. Newman, Lynchburg; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, June 12, 1995, at 3 p.m. from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Huddleston, by the Rev. Wayne Murphy. Interment will follow in the Leftwich Cemetery. PRICE, Willie Edward, 71, of Dublin, died Saturday, June 10, 1995 in a Radford hospital. He was a retired employee of the Lynchburg Foundry Company. Surviving are his wife, Wanda McCoy Price, Dublin; a son, Willie Edward Price Jr., Elliston; four daughters, Brenda Jean Brown, Fredericksburg, Sherry Lynn Price, Rebecca Ann Anderson, and Etta Mae Henderson, all of Radford; a brother, Estel Price, Pulaski; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive. SCHOFIELD, Cecilia R., 92, of Blacksburg, died Thursday, June 8, 1995 in a Blacksburg nursing home. Surviving are two sisters, Nora Leahy, Radford, and Madlin Crabtree, Washington DC. A mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Judes Catholic Church, Radford with Father Jim Grealish officiating. TRENT, Martha Irvin, 94, of Roswell, Ga. passed away Thursday, June 8, 1995. She was the widow of James Herman Trent, a member of Raleigh Court United Methodist Church, and a native of Roanoke having moved to Georgia in 1988. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James M. and Sondra Trent, Richmond; daughter, Dorothy M. TUELL, Dent W., (``Dee""), 58, of Salem, passed away Saturday, June 10, 1995 in a local hospital after a brief illness. He was retired from U. S. Air as a freight agent. He was a member of the Lakeland Masonic Lodge #190. Surviving are his loving wife of 39 years, Judy Patterson Tuell; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Rusty Watson, Myrtle Beach, S. C.; son, Tim W. Tuell, Salem; four grandchildren, DeAnna and Casey Tuell, Salem, Blake and Jorden Watson, Myrtle Beach, S.
