MAYHEW TOPS VASID BASEBALL

Ferrum pitcher Keith Mayhew was named player of the year and Bridgewater coach Curt Kendall was named coach of the year to head the 1995 Virginia Sports Information Directors' Association College Division All-State baseball team.

Mayhew, who was drafted in the 31st round by the Atlanta Braves, was one of only two players to repeat on the first team from a year ago. The other was first baseman Jon Lockman from Lynchburg. Mayhew went 13-2 with a 1.96 ERA this season in leading Ferrum to a 32-10 record. He struck out an NCAA single-season record 149 this season.

Chad Maddox and Chad France, both of Ferrum, also made first team as the Panthers and Longwood each had three on the first team. Lynchburg and Bridgewater had two each. (Complete team listed on B2.)
