PULASKI CHAMBER SEEKS AUCTION ITEMS|

Teams from the Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce are getting ready to start soliciting area businesses and industries for items to be sold at its annual fund-raising auction and buffet Aug. 19 at New River Community College.

The auction will be held in Edwards Hall, a new building on the college campus, starting with a silent auction at 5 p.m. and live auction at 7 p.m. until the last item is sold.

It is the chamber's largest event of the year, and its goal is to top the $26,000 goal from last year. More than 100 volunteers will be needed to accomplish that, chamber officials say.

The buffet will start at 3 p.m. and feature the traditional beef, pork, turkey and trimmings prepared by Pulaski County's own volunteer chefs and Marriott Healthcare Division of Pulaski Community Hospital.

Ron Bierman from Volvo-GM Heavy Truck Corp. and Chris Dux from Pulaski Community Hospital are co-chairmen for this year's fund-raising committee. Wayne Carpenter, Community National Bank, is chairman of the six auction solicitation teams. Team captains include Bierman, Joe Bane of Heilig-Meyers, Kevin Meyer of Pulaski Community Hospital, Mark Wigginton of Signet Bank, Peggy White of Pulaski County Emergency Services, and Mary Wright of Community National Bank.
