RELIGION BRIEFS

KEN STUDER is Memorial Avenue Seventh-day Adventist Church's new pastor. Studer's experience includes serving as pastor in four church districts and working as a hospital chaplain, a hospital wellness director and a chaplain in the U.S. Air Force Reserves.

BETH ISRAEL SYNAGOGUE will offer a summer program for children ages 5-10 June 19-23 and July 24-28, 9 a.m.-noon. The program includes art, storytelling, music, prayer and activities with Jewish themes. The program is funded by the Babe and Sidney Lewis Fund. THE ROANOKE DAY CHAPTER OF THE WOMEN'S AGLOW FELLOWSHIP will meet Wednesday, 11:15 a.m., at the Garden Patch Restaurant, 616 S. Jefferson St. Nita Scoggins, an author, teacher and prayer group leader from Manassas, will speak. Call 362-4849 for reservations.

ST. TIMOTHY LUTHERAN CHURCH and CAMPBELL MEMORIAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH of Vinton will hold a joint vacation Bible school for children and adults June 19-23, 7-8:45 p.m., Campbell Memorial Church, 1130 Hardy Road. JOANI TABOR, a singer who has appeared on two national television networks, ACTS Network and the Family Network, will perform Friday, 7 p.m., for singles and their guests in Phelps Hall of First Baptist Church. Admission is free, but attendees are asked to bring a covered dish.

THE REV. BRIAN SUNDERLY was recently named minister of education and youth at Green Ridge Baptist Church. He comes to the church from Gethsemane Baptist Church in Glenwood, Md. Sunderly received his master's degree in religious education at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in May. He will coordinate the children's, youth and young adult activities and lead the educational and discipleship ministry at Green Ridge.
