NEIGHBORHOOD NAMES

JEAN H. GOAD of Salem, has been selected for induction into Future Homemakers of America's National Leadership Hall of Fame. She will receive the national award during the 1995 National Leadership Meeting in Washington D.C. in July.

Goad is an active member, officer and federation officer of the FHA/HERO Chapter of Hillsville High School in Carroll County. Goad is also active in several professional organizations including: Virginia Home Economics Teachers Association and Virginia Home Economics Association were she is the president of both organizations.

Goad is currently a Senior Regional Manager representing Primerica Financial Services.

THE ART BY THE JAMES COMMITTEE has announced the winners of the fourth annual Art By The James Art Show & Sale held in Buchanan.

KENNY RESNICK of Roanoke has been awarded a diploma in auctioneering offered by the Mendenhall School of Auctioneering in High Point, N.C.

The Roanoke Chapter of the Bluefield College Alumni Association recently elected new officers. Those elected to serve are Shirley Chapman Meador, president; Linda Martin McCallum, vice president; and Cindy Gochenour, secretary.

LEONARD E. HUFFMAN, a Salem driver for R&E Hauling of Roanoke, won the five-axle van class of the Virginia State Truck Driving Championships.

Huffman will compete for the national title Aug. 9-12 in New Orleans.

The YWCA announced winners of its annual awards recently.

Winners and their awards were as follows: Anne Piedmont, Founders Award; Agness Henderson, Kennard Award; Don Harwood, Monroe Preservation Award; Joyce ``Jo'' Birdsall and Betty ``Bet'' Waldron, Outstanding Volunteer Award; Shenandoah Life Insurance Company, Community Spirit Award; Appalachian Power Company, Horizon Award; Allstate Insurance Company, Vision Award; and Terry Morrison, Appreciation Award.
