BRADLEY, Charles L., (Lee), 62, of Roanoke County, passed away Thursday, June 15, 1995. Lee was a retired Virginia State Police Lieutenant with 38 years service. Surviving are his wife, Lorretta B. Bradley; his sons and daughters-in-law, Mark A. Bradley and Liza Mundy, Arlington, Tim L. and Jackie Bradley, Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa B. and B.B. Bowles, Roanoke; four grandchildren, Danyelle, Taylor, Tanner and Hunter Bradley. A memorial service will be held at Cave Spring Baptist Church Wednesday, June 21, 1995, at 1 p.m. with Chaplain Stan Ogden and Chaplain T. G. Ayers officiating. COLE, William Glenn, (``Bill""), 70, of Shawsville, died Friday, June 16, 1995, at his home. He was born April 21, 1925, in Barnardsville, N.C., the son of the late Thomas J. and Laura Hyatt Cole of Barnardsville, N.C. A veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Philippines in World War II, he was also a retired employee of the Veterans Administration Hospital in Salem. He is survived by his former wife, Shelby M. Cole, Shawsville; sons and daughters-in-law, James D. and Mary Ann Cole, Shawsville, Donald E. and Cathy Presley Cole, Raleigh, N.C.; two grandsons, Andrew Thomas Cole and Seth Charles Turner; a granddaughter, April Michelle Ratliff; one brother, Thurman Cole of Seaverville, N.C.; and three nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the home of James and Mary Ann Cole in Shawsville. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. She was born May 15, 1917, to the late Monroe W. Spinner and Louise Rixey Spinner in Bedford Co. She is survived by one brother, Buford Spinner, Bedford; two sisters, Mrs. Betty L. HOPKINS, James Edward, 75, of 108 Woodland Street, Narrows Va., died Friday, June 16, 1995 in the Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg, Va. A lifelong resident of Narrows, he was born on January 16, 1920 and was the son of the late John Elsworth and Mollie Johnson Hopkins. He was preceded in death by 8 brothers and sis ters. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Narrows where he was a member of the Christian's Men's Fellowship, The Mens Bible Class and at the time of his death, he was serving as an Elder in the Church. He was a Veteran of World War II and was a retired Senior Manufacturing Specialist for the Hoechst/Celanese Fibers Company Plant in Narrows. He was a member of Intermont Lodge #269 A.F. and A.M. of Narrows. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane Simpkins Hopkins, Milford, Ohio; a son, James Edward Hopkins, Jr., Milford, Ohio; a daughter, Mary Lee Hopkins, Newport Beach, Calif.; two grandchildren, Mark and Doug Hunt; a special nephew, Benny Johnson and his wife, Jeanette and their sons, Mike and Ben Johnson and their families. LIGHT, Thomas L. Sr., 49, of Nashua, N.H., died Thursday, June 8, 1995 in Bonn Germany after a brief illness, while on a business trip. He was born in Roanoke, Va. on June 27, 1945 and was the son of the late, Walter A. and Helen A. (McGee) Light. Mr. Light was educated in the Botetourt County School System and was a graduate of Lord Botetourt Hospital. He attended Virginia Technical University. He was employed as a Director of Consulting Services fo r B. G. S. Systems, Waltham, Mass. and has been a resident of the Nashua, Amherst, Milford area for the past 10 years. Mr. Light is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Ann (Morse) Light, Nashua; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa J. and Jerry Stoner of Salem; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Thomas L. Jr., and Tammy Light, Roanoke, James K. Light, Ruther Glen, Va., Robert E. Light, Salem; granddaughter, Danielle T. He was born in Fayette County, W.Va. on November 26, 1913 and was a son of the late Gregario and Carmelia Rossa Picarella. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Tiller Picarella. He was a former member of the Lauderdale ARP Church. He was a member of the Buffalo Trail Riders. He was a veteran of the U.S.Army having served during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Gordon Staton who died on August 11, 1967. He is survived by one daughter, Alice S. Nicely, Goshen; three sons, Frank W. Staton, Jr. and Jerry l. Staton, both of Lexington, Albert L. Staton, Buena Vista; one sister, Helen S. Tolley, Lexington; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; 6 step grandchildren; 10 step great grandchildren; 3 step great great grandchildren; two special nieces, Louise Sweet and Carol Bennington. WRIGHT, Julia Lane Clark, 81, of Salem, died at home on Saturday, June 17, 1995, after a long illness. She was born in Donaldsonville, Ga., a daughter of the late Alice Graham Clark and Montague G. Clark. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, James Goodrich Wright; daughters and sons-in-law, Lane and Jim Cochrane of San Jose, Calif., and Emily and Brooke Mallory of Roanoke; a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Nell Wright of La Jolla, Calif.; five grandchildren, James Montague Cochrane and wife, Caroline H. Cochrane of Richmond, Julia Carter Mallory of Chatham, Julia Lane Cochrane of San Jose, Calif., Brooke Baylor Mallory III of Roanoke, and James Goodrich Wright III of La Jolla, Calif. She is also survived by her brother, Dr. M. Graham Clark of Point Lookout, Mo.; brother and sister-in-law, John T. and Frances Clark of Macon, Ga.; sister and brother-in-law, Eva C. and F. Lamar Fleming of Macon, Ga.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Julia was a graduate of the University of Georgia where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi Honorary Societies. Prior to her marriage, she taught school in Roswell and Atlanta, Ga. A lifelong Presbyterian, she was a member of Salem Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School, was a bible and circle leader for Presbyterian women, and organized a prayer group which is still active. She was a member of Lake Spring Garden Club, Salem Book Club, Raleigh Court Book Club, Fort Lewis Chapter of the D.A.R., the Southern Cross Chap ter of the U.D.C. and the Colonial Trails Chapter of the National Society of Colonial Dames XVII Century. She was recently selected as a Paul Harris Fellow. Funeral services will be held at the Salem Presbyterian Church on Tuesday June 20, 1995 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dean Lindsey officiating.
