SCHOOLS FORM FOOD CO-OP

Four school divisions in Southwest Virginia have agreed to form a co-op to buy cafeteria food and supplies for the 1995-96 school year.

The counties of Wythe, Tazewell and Grayson and city of Galax are advertising for bids on a food services contract for all four school divisions. Bids will be due by the end of June.

By joining together, the four divisions hope to secure less expensive cafeteria service for each participant by offering bidders a joint contract.

The successful low bidder will get a contract for all four divisions for 12 months, starting in August. The contract will include an option to renew for the next two school years after 1995-96, subject to annual renegotiation and approval of all school divisions involved.

Contract prices will stay constant until Jan. 31, 1996, at which time they can be adjusted by the successful bidder based on product costs.
