TEEN GIRL DIES AFTER AUTO FLIPS

A teen-age girl was killed and her fiance injured Sunday night in Botetourt County after the automobile in which they were riding ran off the right side of the road and flipped over several times. Both were ejected from the car.

Heather Michelle Markham, 17, of Eagle Rock was pronounced dead at the scene of the 10 p.m. accident on U.S. 220 about five miles south of Eagle Rock. William Philip Burks, 20, of Botetourt County was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, state trooper S.T. Oliver said. No information was available on his condition.

Oliver said neither was wearing a seatbelt. It was unclear which one was driving.

Oliver said the vehicle was traveling north when it went out of control.
