CRAIG CHURCH PLANS PRESCHOOL PROGRAM

Planning is under way for what may become the first church-operated preschool in Craig County. It will open in September at Mountain View Christian Church on Virginia 311 south of New Castle.

Jim Morris, minister of the church, said the new ministry has grown out of an informal play school for about a dozen children.

Morris, who has been a minister in rural Craig for 15 years, said he has not known of any other preschools at churches, which are common in the Roanoke urban area.

The school will accept 4- and 5-year-olds for three-hour session on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friidays. Youngsters, 2 1/2 and 3, will attend shorter sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Enrollment is limited. Call Patty Day at 864-6915 for more information.
