NORDIQUES HEADED TO DENVER

The NHL's board of governors has approved the sale of the Quebec Nordiques to a group that will move the team to Denver.

The owners voted Wednesday to approve the sale of the Nordiques to COMSAT Entertainment Group for $75 million.

A group of Quebec business leaders had asked NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and the board for a 30-day delay before granting final approval of the sale.

The businessmen claimed the Nordiques' owners should have offered the team to local investors before agreeing to sell it to COMSAT, a Maryland-based company that also owns the NBA's Denver Nuggets.
