SUNLIGHT AT END OF TUNNEL

Friday evening, sun rays spilled between clouds and mist floated in the air, giving birth to rainbows in Roanoke.

Rainbows were a welcome sight after flooding late Thursday and early Friday took one rescue worker's life, sank cars and caused evacuations in surrounding areas.

The National Weather Service's forecast is also uplifting: flash flood watches were lifted for the New River Valley. This weekend will be partly cloudy with a 30-40 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s, lows in the mid 60s.
