STORE MANAGER ORDERS ROBBERS OUT

Three teen-age boys tried to rob a Northeast Roanoke convenience store at gunpoint Thursday night but fled after the store manager shoved the gun aside and told them to leave.

Roanoke police said Chanh Le, manager of the Quick N Save Food Mart at 4662 Old Mountain Road, said the boys came into his store about 9:30 p.m. One of the boys approached the counter and pointed a small, black handgun at Le, demanding money.

Le told police he recognized the boy who displayed the gun. Le pushed the gun to the side and ordered the teen-ager out of the store. All three boys fled.

Officers went to the home of one of the boys, but his parents said they had not seen him in two days.

Police did not release the names of the juveniles.
