ALLEN, Lucy, (``Sweetpea""), 75, of Martinsville, died Thursday, June 22, 1995. Funeral 4 p.m. Sunday, McKee Funeral Chapel.

BAILEY, Marjorie E., 35, of Roanoke, Va., passed away Thursday, June 22, 1995, at her home. Marjorie was a former purchasing agent for Quality Manufacturing of Roanoke and was preceded in death by her father, Lorenzo Rossi. Surviving are her husband, Clinton G. Bailey; her mother, Ruth Rossi, Feasterville, Pa.; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert J. and Della Rossi, Syracuse, N.Y., William D. and Cheryl Rossi, Pipersville, Pa., Lawrence D. and Linda Rossi, Langhorne, Pa.; also two nieces, four nephews. A memorial service will be held in Feasterville, Pa. at a later date. Oakey's Roanoke Chapel is handling funeral arrangements.

BLACK, Russell Henry, 72, of Lexington, died Thursday, June 22, 1995, in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born January 7, 1923 in Rockbridge County, he was the son of the late Robert Henry Black and Inez Rhodes Black. He was a member of the Collierstown United Methodist Church, retired from Kennametal Mining Tool Corporation, and was a veteran of World War II, 47th Infantry from February 1943 to October 1945. He operated a 60mm mortar during combat in France, Belgium and Germany. Campaign and Battles: Sicilian, North Africa, N ormandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. Surviving are his wife, Virginia R. Black, Lexington; one son, Larry Black, Lexington; one daughter, Margaret Spencer, Lexington; two sisters, Ida Mae Martin, Troutville, Phyllis Wilmore, Daleville; five grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, June 25, 1995, at 2 p.m. from the Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Price officiating with burial to follow in the Collierstown Presbyterian Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions can be made to the Collierstown United Methodist Church, Effinger First Responders, or the Lexington Lifesaving and First Aid Crew. The family will receive friends at the residence at any time. Harrison Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

CLEMENT, Edna L., 70, of Roanoke died Friday, June 23, 1995 in a local hospital. She was a member of the Vinton Church of the Brethren. Surviving are her husband, Eugene B. Clement; daughters, Judy Clement, Vinton, Laura Trembulak, Tumwater, Wash.; son, Alvin Clement, Nashville, Tenn.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Lewis Laprade, Sykesville, Md.; nephew, Ray Laprade, Bedford. Funeral services will conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 1 p.m. Monday, June 26, 1995, with the Rev. Jodie Hendricks officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. LOVELACE, Doherta Pickeral, 92, of Rt. 4, Gretna, died Thursday, June 22, 1995, at the Gretna Health Care Center. Born May 19, 1903, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Richard Pickeral and Jenny Chism Pickeral. Mrs. Lovelace was preceded in death by her husband, David Nathaniel Lovelace Sr. She was a member of the Anderson Memorial United Methodist Church. Survivors include three sons, James R. Lovelace of Penhook, David N. Lovelace Jr. of Gretna and Randall E. Lovelace of Wallace, S.C.; three daughters, Frances Tunkel of Lynchburg, Margie Doss of Penhook and Alice Brumfield of Gretna; one brother, Gover Pickeral of Gretna; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. REAVES, Earnest Eugene, 87, of Bob White Blvd., Pulaski, Va., died Thursday, June 22, 1995, in the Pulaski Community Hospital. He was born April 15, 1908 in Wythe County and was the son of the late William and Rosie Reaves. He was preceded in death by one son, Billy Eugene Reaves, Jr.; and three sisters, Lila Reaves, Lula Hale and Bessie Bourne; and four brothers, James, Steve, Richard and Bill Reaves. Mr. Reaves was retired from Coleman Furniture Co. with 28 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Maggie Jennings Reaves, Pulaski; two sons, Ralph Douglas Reaves, Pulaski, Gerald Leon Reaves, Pulaski; six daughters, Mrs. Ed (Earline) Oliver, Pulaski, Mrs. Carl (Audrey) Webb, Pulaski, Miss Mary Reaves, Roanoke, Mrs. Larry (Wanda Sue) Horton, Roanoke, Ms. Carolyn D. Hodge, Pulaski, Ms. Delores Alley, Pulaski; 22 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Stevens Funeral Chapel, Pulaski, with the Rev. William L. SCHILLING, James E. Jr., (""Jim""), 70, of Martinsville, died Thursday, June 22, 1995, at Memorial Hospital in Henry County. Mr. Schilling was preceded in death by the late James Eldridge Sr., and Rachel Rebecca Green Schilling. Mr. Schilling attended Jefferson High School in Roanoke, where he was an outstanding basketball, football and baseball athlete. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Lingayen Gulf in the Philippines and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He moved to Martinsville in 1954 and owned and operated 3 businesses in downtown Martinsville, The Corner, Lee's Confectionery and The Green Cross Store. He was a charter member of Martinsville Community Recreation Association, The State of Virginia Recreation and Park Society Awards and Citations Committee where he was awarded with the 1970 Volunteer Certificate. He was past President of Martinsville Little and Junior Pony Baseball organizations, past Coach of Youth Sandlot Football, Basketball and Baseball. He was recognized by Martinsville City Council for his continuous dedication and volunteer hours in Youth Sports Leagues. He was a volunteer at Clearview Elementary School, Past member of Elks Club and member of Piedmont Coin Club. Mr. Schilling is survived by his wife, Georgia Taylor Schilling, of the home; daughter, Cheryl Taylor Schilling, Martinsville; son, James E. ""Tripp"" Schilling, III., Martinsville; sisters, JoAnn Schilling, Shelby, N.C., Sarah Schilling, Corona, Calif. Funeral services will be held Sunday 2 p.m. at The McKee Funeral Chapel, Martinsville, with the Rev. E. Thomas Herndon and the Rev. Fred Wagner officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at McKee's Funeral Home, Martinsville and other times at the home. SPANGLER, Betty Hale, 73, of Nottingham Way, Galax, died Thursday, June 22, 1995, in Twin County Regional Hospital. Mrs. Spangler was born in Virginia on September 9, 1921 to William Custis and Annie Ferrell. She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia (Sis) Pack, Galax and Sandra Spangler-Evans, Greenville, W.Va.; a half sister, Andres Hale, New Market; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene M. Spangler. Graveside service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in Birchlawn Cemetery, Pearisburg with the Rev. Robert Moore officiating.

WEBB, Ann Edwards, 62, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 22, 1995. She was retired from Kmart and was a member of Garden City Baptist Church. Surviving is her husband of 44 yrs, George C. Webb; a son and his wife, Mike and Sharon Webb; a daughter, Shelia Stegall; four grandchildren, David Webb and wife, Loretta, Danny Webb, Stephaine and Chris Vaden; one great-granddaughter, Katie Webb; several sisters and brothers; special friends, Cecil and Betty Fitzwater. WEBB, Hassie McGrady, 90, of Natural Bridge, died Thursday, June 22, 1995, at Stonewall Jackson Hospital, Lexington. Born in Hillsville, July 16, 1904, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Allen McGrady and Nancy Webb McGrady. Mrs. Webb was a member of High Bridge Presbyterian Church and was the widow of Robert William Webb, and was preceded in death by two sons, William A. Webb and Douglas E. Webb. Surviving are two daughters, Catherine Webb Kessinger, Natural Bridge, Geneva W. Conner, Natural Bridge; one son, Robert A. Webb, Lexington; twelve grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, June 25, 1995, at 3:30 p.m. from the Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Glenn M. Coleman officiating.
