GOODVIEW MAN'S SKULL IS FRACTURED DURING ARGUMENT

A 33-year-old Goodview man was found bleeding in the 300 block of West Salem Avenue in Roanoke about 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Jerry Michael Karnes was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital and treated for a fractured skull, according to Roanoke police.

Karnes told police he was hit by another man during an argument. Police located the other man involved in the incident, but the investigation could not be completed because Karnes was uncooperative, police said.

At 9:53 p.m. Saturday, a 36-year-old Roanoke County woman was mugged as she walked through the north-south alley between the 100 blocks of Church and Kirk avenues Southwest. Police said a man grabbed her shoulder bag and ran. Several passers-by chased the man, detaining him at Jefferson Street and Salem Avenue.

Christopher Gordon Yager, 21, of the 400 block of Harrison Avenue Northwest, was charged with attempted robbery. Monday, he remained in Roanoke City Jail on $2,500 bond.

A Yellow Cab driver struggled with, then detained, a fare the driver said had tried to rob him Friday night. Derwin O. Drumgold, 27, of Cherry Avenue Northwest was charged with attempted robbery. Monday, he remained in Roanoke City Jail on $500 bond.
