ROANOKE REGIONAL ECOCOMIC INDICATORS

The number of airline passengers at Roanoke Regional Airport is off this year from 1994, when many of the carriers offered discounted fares.

The airport commission reported that 129,311 passengers had boarded here through the end of May, down 8.6 percent from 141,517 during the same five months last year.

During May, boardings were 29,340, off 19.6 percent from 36,487 in May 1994 but up 6.6 percent from 27,531 in April.

The amount of cargo for the first five months rose 65.5 percent from 6,444.92 tons last year to 10,668.12 tons this year.
