LIGHTNING CRITICALLY INJURES CONCERTGOER

A Danville woman remained in critical condition Monday after being struck by lightning while waiting outside RFK Stadium for a rock concert.

Kristin Daniel, 20, was breathing with the help of a respirator at D.C. General Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Daniel and two other fans were sitting under a tree Sunday, awaiting the start of the Grateful Dead-Bob Dylan concert, when the lightning struck.

Daniel was not breathing when rescue workers arrived, though other fans had started cardiopulmonary resuscitation. She was revived by rescue workers before she was transported to the hospital.

The other two fans, who were not identified, were released Monday from George Washington University Medical Center.
