HOUSE PASSES AGENT ORANGE BILL

The House voted Tuesday to extend until the end of 1997 health care benefits for Vietnam War veterans suffering from possible side effects of the herbicide Agent Orange.

The bill, passed by voice vote, also would expand the list of ailments with conceivable links to Agent Orange exposure that qualify a veteran for VA treatment.

The current eligibility, determined by the Agent Orange Act of 1991, is to expire Friday. The Senate has yet to consider the bill.
