THE PEOPLE COLUMN

Here's a disclosure: The rumors about Michael Douglas' marriage have turned out to be true.

His wife of 18 years, Diandra, has filed for separation, citing irreconcilable differences.

``There are no plans for a divorce. Both of them are just going to get on with their careers,'' Douglas spokesman Allen Burry said.

Mrs. Douglas is seeking custody of their 15-year-old son, Cameron and unspecified spousal support payments.

The rumors have persisted throughout the years. When a reporter asked Douglas in 1988 whether his own personality resembled the philandering husband he played in ``Fatal Attraction,'' Douglas replied, ``How long have you been married? Do you fool around?''

Window-watchers will get a chance to see Katie Couric blossom on the ``Today'' show.

The NBC co-anchor has told friends and colleagues that she and husband Jay Monahan are expecting another child in January, USA Today reported. The couple already have a daughter, Ellie.

Couric, 38, was en route to New York City from the show's road trip to Yellowstone National Park, and could not be reached for comment. NBC News professed to be in the dark about it.

``If she is pregnant, she will announce it in her own time,'' an NBC publicist said.
