ENTRIES SOUGHT

It's not too late to sign up for Blacksburg's free Independence Day Parade, and just about anything that rolls is acceptable, organizers say.

The theme is "Red, White and Blooming." The grand marshal will be Susan Garrison, the town's horticulturist.

Floats as big as buses and as small as tricycles can enter. The registration deadline is Saturday.

Also welcome are antique and race cars, three- and four-wheelers, lawn tractors, bicycles and wagons. Marching, walking and musical entries are especially needed.

The parade will start at 2 p.m. at Blacksburg Middle School, travel along Main Street, and end at Virginia Tech's Drill Field.

A special section for children and their cycles, wagons and costumes will be reserved. Trophies will be given for best theme representation, best youth unit and best overall unit.

Call Gavin Faulkner at 961-3315 for more information.
