The Wintergreen Resort's par-72 Stoney Creek course was drenched by more than four inches of rain Tuesday night and left unplayable as a light rain continued through most of Wednesday.
VSGA officials decided to cut qualifying from 36 holes to 18 holes, with Wednesday's tee times moved back to today. Another rainout today could result either in an abbreviated tournament or perhaps even a postponement until later this summer.

Salem's Dot Bolling fired a second-round 75 and enters today's final round of the Virginias Women's Stroke Play Championship in Richmond in fourth place. Bolling's 149 total for 36 holes trails leader Charlaine Coetzee by seven shots.
Cindy Ho, a Longwood College teammate of Coetzee's, is second at 145. Defending champion Lee Shirley of Salem skied to a second-round 82 to fall 15 shots back. Blacksburg's Juanita Petrone (89) has a 172 total, while Covington's Norma Lemon (92) is at 181.
Roanoker Brandon LaCroix slipped to a final-round 78 and finished 18th in the 14-15 age bracket at the North & South Junior golf tournament in Pinehurst, N.C. LaCroix, 14, finished with a 54-hole total of 10-over 226.
K.J. Hippensteel upset top-seeded Joey Hopke 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 in the quarterfinals of the Mid-Atlantic Championship for 15-16 boys in Richmond. Hippensteel, the No.5 seed, advances to the semifinals today where he will take on fourth-seeded Goran Kreacic.
Salem's Carolina League baseball game with Winston-Salem was rained out Wednesday. It will be made up today as part of a 6 p.m. doubleheader.
