Coetzee's 36-hole total of 2-under 142 on the 5,094-yard Brandermill Country Club course leads Longwood teammate Cindy Ho by three. Ho, who led the field after a first-round 71, had a 74 Wednesday.
Dot Bolling of Salem recorded a 75 Wednesday and stands fourth at 149.
Defending champion Lee Shirley of Salem skied to an 82 Wednesday and is 15 shots off the pace entering today's final round.
Blacksburg's Juanita Petrone (89) has a 172 total, while Covington's Norma Lemon (92) is at 181.

Hippensteel, the No.5 seed, advances to the semifinals today where he will take on fourth-seeded Goran Kreacic. Hippensteel's match with Hopke, a 16-year from Richmond, started at 10:30 a.m. and finished at 5:30 p.m. because of four rain interruptions.
Salem's Carolina League baseball game with Winston-Salem was rained out Wednesday. It will be made up today as part of a 6 p.m. doubleheader.
