TRUCK WRECK KILLS BEDFORD MAN

A Bedford man died Thursday afternoon when his pickup ran off a road and landed in a creek.

Lawrence Edward Hogan, 78, was driving on Virginia 746, almost a mile south of Virginia 680, when his truck left the roadway, rolled down an embankment and overturned into a creek, according to state police.

The accident occurred about 2:45 p.m.

Hogan was taken to Bedford Memorial Hospital, where he died about 4:20 p.m.

It is not known whether Hogan was wearing a seat belt, police said.
