Jones has been with SFCS since 1983, most recently as vice president and director of seniors design. Toor, formerly vice president and director of general practice, has been with the firm since 1986. Jennings, previously a vice president, began his career with SFCS in 1970. Campbell has worked for the company since 1984, most recently as director of engineering. Pritchard joined SFCS in 1983, Jarmolowski in 1987 and Britt in 1989.
SFCS specializes in the design of educational, health care and retirement facilities.
ARCHITECTS AND ENGINEERS
MICHAEL BRENNAN and ROBERT J. SMITH have been promoted to the position of senior associate at Hayes, Seay, Mattern & Mattern Inc., an architectural, engineering and planning firm based in Roanoke. JOSEPH E. WELLS has been promoted to assistant vice president of the company. Brennan, a registered architect and interior designer, joined HSMM in 1989. Smith, who is senior systems analyst and head of the data processing department, has been with HSMM for 18 years. Wells has been a project architect, project manager and head of the architectural department since he joined HSMM in 1981. In 1983, he transferred to the firm's National Capital Regional Office in Rockville, Md., where he is currently office manager.
COLLEGES
CHARLES W. CRIST, a vice president with BellAtlantic Corp. in Arlington, has been named vice president for business and finance at Hollins College. He will assume his new post Sept. 5.
Crist comes to Hollins with 29 years of education and experience in the telecommunications industry, having been with BellAtlantic since 1989, and, before that, with C&P and AT&T.
At Hollins, he will be responsible for managing the college's endowment and administration of the college's finances, auxiliary services, security, human resources and the physical plant and grounds.
ENVIRONMENT
RON TUCKER has joined Earth Reach Environmental Consultants in Rocky Mount as marketing manager. Tucker formerly worked with an asbestos and lead paint specialist. In his new job, he will maintain and develop a statewide client base for the consulting company.
FOOD PROCESSORS
JOHN O. NIELSON, president and chief operating officer of Smithfield Foods Inc., has assumed the additional responsibilities of president and chief operating officer of the company's largest operating unit, Smithfield Packing Co. Smithfield Foods is parent of Valleydale Foods Inc. of Salem. He replaces ROBERT W. MANLY IV, who has been named executive vice president of Smithfield Foods Inc.
FOOD SERVICE
RICK NEASE has joined the Jefferson Club in Roanoke as maitre d'. He previously was the dining room manager at Brandon Oaks Retirement Community. Nease has more than 16 years of experience in the food and beverage industry, 13 of which he worked in food service at Virginia Military Institute.
GOVERNMENT
CAROLE BRACKMAN, owner of Multimedia Creations in Salem, has been elected to the Industrial Development Authority of Roanoke County.
HOSPITALITY
At The Homestead resort hotel in Hot Springs, BRETT SCHOENFIELD has been named rooms division manager, ANN WALKER has been appointed national sales manager and SUSAN HRUSKA has been named public relations manager. Schoenfield, a 10-year hospitality veteran, comes from San Antonio, Texas, where he was executive assistant manager of rooms for Hyatt Regency Country Club. Walker was national sales manager for The Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., for 10 years. Hruska, a recent graduate of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, worked several summers for Pinehurst Resort and Country Club, a sister resort to The Homestead under the operation of Club Resorts Inc.

CANDY MILLS has joined Professional Library Update Service Systems, a legal and tax loose-leaf filing and information service in Roanoke, as assistant director of operations specializing in the area of legal information.

L. DANIEL SPRINKLES has joined Dean Witter Reynolds Inc.'s Roanoke office as an account executive. He has worked for the last 17 years in corporate financial management and as a private management consultant, most recently in Monterey, Calif.

STEPHEN J. KONSIN has joined Retired Persons Services Inc. as senior vice president, pharmacy operations. Retired Persons Services administers the AARP Pharmacy Service, a nonprofit mail service pharmacy which operates a telemarketing center in Roanoke. Konsin has been in management positions with Thrift Drug and Systemed Pharmacy Inc., most recently as senior vice president of operations. Retired Persons Services Inc. is a separate entity sponsored by, but not owned or controlled by, the AARP.
